  1. Tom Lord's discography has it listed as: Centre Culturel Americain, Paris (Saint-Germain-des-Prés) , October 1967.
  2. "Unlikely pairing" was exactly what I thought when I've discovered it yesterday at Squidco's website. And that's why I finally pulled the trigger - after some hesitation on my side.
  3. Just made a pre-order for something quite special (IMO). Figured it would be of interest for some. Scheduled for mid-November. Derek Bailey & Paul Motian - Duo in Concert
  4. An hour ago I got a message from Germany's biggest mail order for music that my pre-order has been canceled. Hopefully this is only due to distribution et al. At least the label and the weathershop still have it on pre-order. Anyone knows more?
  5. Unfortunately I do not own this LP. Listened to it once at a friend's home.
  6. There's another LP on which Clarence Sharpe plays his great alto. The group is named Vern Fridie And The Jazz Deciples. Some more info at Discogs. Plus he did not only play on one TTT (Penck) but on two of these elusive vinyls. All in all definitely not enough music from him.
  7. FYI: The CD was released in February '23. I got it six months ago through a German mailorder for a reasonable price. The entry at Discogs was made by myself a day after I received the CD (no offer since then at Discogs). Soundwise I'm happy with it.
  8. Yep - but I believe waiting for an offer for the Braxton / Mariano LP will be futile.
  9. At least three Palm LPs have been reissued as part of a 4 CD box set in 2014 by Jazzman. https://www.discogs.com/release/5638799-Gilson-Et-Malagasy-Gilson-Et-Malagasy
  10. Yes it is forbidden - but actually this is common practice from a lot of Discogs contributors.
  11. Take a look at Mats Gustaffson's website: John Coltrane - Ascension
  12. The website was started and maintained by Peter Stubley (no contact info, though). Since some years updates were very scarce and then stopped completely. About three/four weeks ago I tried to visit it and it was gone. In case there's demand for the John Stevens sessionography I have it on my pc. (never believe in the longevity of a website!)
  13. Yep correct - I've made a mistake/typo. 😄 It is Душан for Dušan. And this is his real/birth name according Mr. Goykovich himself.
  14. His real name is Dušan Gojković (in cyrillic: Душко Гојковић). Duško is a diminutive form of Dušan. Me too has a background in ex Yugoslavia - my first language was serbo-croatic (and croatian and serbian are actually / factually [and confirmed by most linguists] the same language - or you could say two dialects - of course nowadays this is not very well received from a lot of folks from those two countries. But this does not change the truth of it.) Apart from that I believe that omitting accents could make a big difference - depending on the language it is translated into. It's not only a question of spelling but of (when spoken) the sound of it. Similar as f.e. a German "Ü" when found in English texts is mostly printed as "U". The sound is quite different. Back to the man in question. There's still a nice interview from 2010 visible on the Bavarian Brodcast media library (in German only I fear): Dusko Goykovich interview + some playing with piano
  15. I do not know - the original submitter of "Elegy for a Goose" contacted one of Mariano's daughters after I've mailed him wether he has this LP. He did not have it. He made a web-submission - culled data from the "Charlie Mariano Tribute" website.
  16. It's also available as download from Qobuz (in CD quality or 24-Bit 44.1 kHz).
  17. This LP most probably does not exist. Discovered this at Discogs almost three years ago. I've asked Günter Sommer. He even went into his archive and he is 100% sure that he never was part of this recording. The same question was asked to Aki Takase by the original submitter. She is sure never to have played let alone recorded in this line-up. The original submitter found this "release" (it would have been rather a double LP - tt 62:14) at the former website of Charlie Mariano's daughter. She insisted that this LP does exist but never saw it by herself. I strongly tend to believe Günter Sommer and Aki Takase.
  18. The "error" are the uncredited alternate takes on the first CD. Tracks 1-4 are not the original takes from the LP. Tracks 5 - 8 are from the Anima edition. I could compare it to the vinyl from a friend's collection. My copy of the double CD plays just fine. See also the entry at Discogs which I've amended accordingly. https://www.discogs.com/release/4593175-Billy-Bang-Sweet-SpaceUntitled-Gift
  19. I have the Helsinki recordings since 2018. Bought and got the recording, together with a friend, directly from YLE.
  20. Yes I've heard it several times - and I do enjoy it and shall buy me the CD. I have the short video from the WDR which I've watched twice. Glad it will be released on CD. But wether the tracks are really from Munich... I'm not convinced. Munich never was a hotbed for advanced music. Maybe in the 1960s up to the beginning of the 70s it was better. And since a decade or a bit more there are two non-profit organisations which do help a lot. Main reason for my doubts is that the alleged Munich recording's description is coming with "... SWF Television Studio .... And SWF is the older acronym for the south-west radio station which goes as SWR since 1998/99. And the SWF would have been a much more likely broadcast station for such music. Not at least we had Joachim-Ernst Berendt there in Germany's south-west promoting the music called Jazz.
  21. No - he did not mention any specific musicians / titles at all. Only those musicians / CDs which were already available back then and only when I've asked him a specific question. I talked to him as a seller of vinyl in the first place. And after finishing business I requested some informations. He was friendly, open minded and glad that I enjoyed some of his ezz-thetics releases (f.e. Jimmy Giuffre in Graz...). But as he seemed busy (and I was busy) we did talk only for a few minutes.
  22. "Revisited" does not mean that it was available before. It rather means that the music is of historical importance and therefore should be revisisted. Not my five pence but from Mr. Uehlinger himself when we had a telephone call this early summer.

    Rolf Kühn

Just got an email from an artist agency which also worked for Rolf Kühn. He has died on August 18, 2022 in Berlin. This was confirmed by his wife and his brother Joachim Kühn. R.I.P.
  24. Thanks!! WIll buy me this download now. But not from 1201. 1201 does offer mp3 only. The sound of those mp3 is OK but the lossless version available at Qobuz do sound better. Bought me the mp3 of Dewey Redman's 'Look for another black star' and Jym Young's 'Strings, Keys & Thumbs' when they were available from 1201 more than 8 years ago. And a few days ago I discovered the lossless offer and immediately had to get 'em. All in all I'm glad that the music is available at all. Sadly they do not include even the most basic informations which is rather annoying.
  25. Thanks T.D. - yes I see what's at allmusic.com. Unfortunately there's no information about the line-up or recording location. And early 1970s isn't very specific either. I would assume that the music's (tape?) source does include at least the personnel apart from Waldron. But Qobuz, iTunes etc. aren't very helpful insofar - to put it mildly. Thanks again.
