  1. Otis Olson - Jawny Haunches
  2. A bit loud maybe, but otherwise right between the lines!
  3. Don't think so...
  4. Experienced that one as an LP back in the day. Immediately and permanently imprinted. Still my favorite Billie Verve, and some of my favorite Ben, period.
  5. RIP I particularly appreciate how he remained curious and agile enough to evolve. Being able to meaningfully engage Steve Coleman on his own terms is no small feat. The other way around is to be expected, but the older evolving that much forward, not so much. Much appreciated, the master engaging the pupil on both turfs.
  6. Why that hand gots a specimen cup for the lab?
  7. I know the name Fred Tompkins from an Elvin record or two, and he seemed to always have a record or two in the shelves at Peaches back in the day. But for some reason I never checked him or then out. Glad to at least finally have the opportunity. That was good!
  8. On the right side of when licks become vocabulary.
  9. This.
  10. Danielle Cushion - This Is Danielle Cushion!!!
  11. My money's on the dog.
  12. Disc 2 has a few things of interest, but just a few. Disc 1 is far better imo.
  13. Signs of Hackman falling?
  14. Yep. But RIP anyway. A lot of great work.
  15. Probably a seance with Tony Scott.
  16. Just now getting around to opening this one. Disc 1 is pretty cool actually, lots of Miles on both trumpet and keys, lots of blues with Miles playing altered changes, J.J.!!! Nothing (except for the opening cut) obviously intended as anything other than jamming. On to the rest tomorrow. But so far, so good. Miles playing chords is like Wynton Kelly coming back to life after woodshedding everything that he missed that he could have used.
  17. Worse than missing it, I forgot about it...🤢
  18. Yikes. Guess I missed that. What a shame. What a loss...
  19. Pretty darn good! What's up with Charnette Moffett? This guy was a totally badass bassist, at least the equal of any of his peers. Where is he today?
  20. Ok then, how does this new one compare to the US Savoy CD The Floater Syndrome? I have both it and the Japanese issue. Both have both alternates. Fwiw, I'm not a big Bill Evans fan, and agree wholeheartedly about Bley vs Evans. No contest imo.
  21. Indeed.it is!!!
