You mean that one of Miles' drummers also played with Hendrix?

Hmmm...I look at the Collectables and see three pictures, but only two pictures of album covers. And also, they've got the original label logos on them, to remind me of how old they are and that they have been out before and just all sorts of....bothersome peculiarity of periodic specificalities. Then I look at the Avid and see FIVE pictures, all of them album covers, and if it looks like 3/5 or them are incomplete covers, that's still five pictures of album cover, to go with Four Classic Albums Plus in probably the finest sound quality ever, and besides, how do I know what those album covers really look like, this is the value here, maybe rectangles were records before records were round, either way - PHYSICAL OBJECTS - not nebulous digital soundsignals running across the insternet, physical object just like the old days when god intended for it to be that way, and to proove god was right in the first place - more pictures!!! Why would I spend my money on anything else or look elsewhere to get a collection feeling of recorded music inside my house, where it's nobody's, after all, business but mine?

For The People, man, I love that record, that was a statement!

RIP to a guy who was there, and who mattered while he was.

Seriously, I don't care what people buy, or,really, why they buy it. But when the justification is blatantly and patently false (which I can't get this ANYWHERE else!!!!! is, then ooops, sorry, that's simple misinformation, now do you have a reason/rationalization that can be supported by reality? A simple "ah, it's cheap, it's right here in front of me, and I'm too lazy to go digging on the bit-torrent sites, or to bug my collector friends, and besides, it comes in its own box" is perfectly acceptable, but...is nobody that honest? No. It's always well if so and so wouldn't have done this or oif so and so WOULD have done this, then I wouldn't HAVE to buy this, and, hey, take responsibility for your own actions, don't be looking for misdirected absoltuion. First person that says straight-up "Yes, there are other ways to get this material, to say otherwise is a fat-faced lie" gets a BIG box of raisins, one of the ones I buy for myself, and then we can all get back to going about our business.

Your stance is known. It has been regurgitated often enough. Yet there are people out there who prefer a tangible product (where the price/quality balance appears OK to THEM) instead of some audio files lurking on one's hard drive. Not to mention that enough reissues by the majors could be named where fidelity and presentation (or lack of latter) don't look any better than those of many of those PD sets, so ... Your EuroPorn insinuations won't make anybody feel guilty about these sets anymore anyway because - exaggerating only a little - for every PD set that you call that way there is bound to be a JapPorn set (remember: "Not for sale outside Japan" ) and a YankMajorConglomerate deadbeat. So a niche is being filled (that is left stupidly unattended by others) and that's all there is to it. TTK put it well: It doesn't break my heart when perfectly legal reissues may be depriving giant corporations from royalties on recordings they don't even know they own. As I wrote in a similar thread, the majors saw the European public domain law coming down the pike, and they could have either preemptively reissued recordings, or worked with the independent labels on producing high quality reissues. I saw some of the former and barely any of the latter. I was merely ensuring that the full scope of the "too bad for you if..." litany was accounted for (it was not, go back and re-read your list), lest one got the impression that it really WAS "Difficult" to get this stuff without resorting to EuroMusiPornboxes..or if you don't mind the pixilation, that JapaMusiPornsingldiscs. It's not. Now, if you "need" to have an "object", well, sure, you get a picture of a picture of some pictures, and I suppose that's....pretty could, uh, sure. No need for guilt but maybe some fiscal direction wouldn't hurt. Then again, we all throw money away in some kind of way on something. For me, it's those little boxes of raisins. I find that young people take to lowered expectations a lot easier than do old people, so I encourage them, to see that their faith in a lesser tomorrow does not go unrewarded. Plus, they dig the raisins.

I liked his Othello. Don't know how "Shakespearean " it really was, but fuck it, Orson Welles, and all that came with that. Also, comedy record. http://www.allmusic.com/album/begatting-of-the-president-mw0000890802

I may be wrong, but when that series came out on Signal, weren't they positioned as play-along/Music-Minus-One-ish records? Agreed that releasing them in that form to the general audience is kinda ripoffy, but hello Herman Lubinsky, etc. MMO (and at least some of the earlier Aebersold) records were recorded with the soloist in an isolation booth, or highly baffled (hahaha) so as not to be heard on the play-along material.

Not me, I'm kinda like, "too bad for you if you can't even find some teenaged nephew/niece to steal it off of a bit-torrent site instead of paying some stranger to do it for you". Because when you go off into these deeply nasty EuroMusiPornbox collections, that's pretty much all you're doing and that's pretty much all you're getting. Ace, btw, rocks. Totally.

4a - So, How Was Lunch? (Meaningful Glances Stilled Waters Instrumental Mix Mix) 4b - So, How Was Lunch? (Soup Or Consequences Popular Vocal Mix) Two lengthy-ish narrative improvs on a common theme from 4.14.15 documenting our desire to play longer, slower, and quieter, Longer, slower, and quieter, but y'all know how lunch goes - one little thing and the whole experience goes bad. Volume is lower, sound quality is better. All of it is downloadable - free - help yourself if anybody got time for all that shit. Our story so far can be followed in full here: https://soundcloud.com/summusic-3 Lunch!

Two more episodes, yes, but the way AMC is billing it is one more episode and then...THE SERIES FINALE. Perhaps the series finale will not be an episode, maybe it will be new lyrics to "I Will Survive" pumped into every karaoke bar in every corner of eh know galaxy, or something like that. But that seems unlikely. I think AMC is just hypin' the math. Just wondering, btw, how do you get AMC in Japan, satellite or is there enough interest that it's provided locally as premium?

I'm a'steady watchin'! Still not sure if Don ever comes back or not. After what happened to Tony Soprano (and how long it took to get a final answer), I'm betting nothing.

Regarding the now-infamoulegendary MOPDTK Blue thing, I'm reminded of back in the days of the space race, and you'd find some really old African-American folks who would just ponder and say something like "white man done lost his mind goin to the moon, can't live on the moon, ain't nothin there, why they spending all that to go where there ain't nothin to get to" and then I'd be well, yeah, but, you know, curiosity, technology, human spirit and I felt, and still feel that that was the ultimately correct answer, as much I as I loved the oldsters who just could not get it. But with that MOPDTK thing, it's my turn to say like the really old African-American folks, only ain't nobody yet convinced be of the gains of any of it. Unintended sideffect of spiritual authenticity in terms of really old African-American folks who could not get the space program, but with everybody taking pictures of everybody today like they do, that ain't gonna buy me no roses.

Trudy says, "Bring it if you got it. And if you got it, smoke it". Your move, Gaga.

With pleasure. And thanks again to John Litweiler for writing one of, imo, the most important - and readable - pieces that down beat ever published.

What is that like? -
Exactly - that's why you should always look at the expiration date before opening the can. And yet...they can get them?

Yeah, but then they all died or something, and stopped buying records. -
I'd like to know more about that window, please. Perhaps the window is where all the sound nobody can hear goes. Have you opened that window?
