  3. Ok, I give up? Why is this set already being referred to in the past tense.
  4. It's not every day you get to hear about a cop talking sense into a librarian.
  5. WHOAH!!!
  6. Oh, you should hear the Soul Note albums (if you haven't), then. Happy Jimmy is back, only this time he's got something vaguely resembling Weather Report behind him. Didn't see THAT one coming! The guy was the eptiomic marcher-to-his-own-drummer-er, he really was, especially in bands where there was no drummer! There's a much-accomplished olde/wise/experienced guy around here who claims to have known Giuffre waaaay back in the day who says to blame it all on Wesley LaViolette. I take that with several grains of salt, but it just goes to show you that even some of the old guys were getting perplexed by Giuffre before some of us were even born.
  7. Oh, The Hair Of Sonny Rollins would make for a good historical layout, it would.
  8. Oh, I got another one yesterday, things that had been ordered over a few days right before the President's Day weekend so probably had a delay in shipping, not delivery. It was harder to get all this stuff at once when you had to go out to get it. This point and click method is really way, way too easy. It's like, ok, what have I heard today that I want to have in the house for deeper consideration, here it is for cheap, order it, and now, off to bed. A few days later, it shows up at your house, like, hi, my name is CD, this is my partner LP, and we're here from the agency. Agency? Oh yeah, the agency, that's right, Well, c'mon in, get settled in, .good to see you made it ok. Dinner's at 7. And then, a few days later, the agency sends some more of 'em over. It's like you've got some notch carved in one of your trees and every hobo in the world knows you're a soft touch.
  9. This is the second time that Sonny will be released on a label name that has also released Little Richard, third if you want to include Milestone & Specialty under the Fantasy umbrella. The first, of course, would be RCA.
  10. I love Free Fall (and the Verve material of the more-or-less same vibe). It's just taking Jazz On A Summer's Day and making it Clouds On A Winter's Afternoon. Same view, different scenery. Seasons change!

  14. hmmm...still not sure...especially after reading this review on the Mosaic site: Maybe that sleep was actually psychotheraputic subliminal hypnotics embedded in the grooves of the LPs...and if so, how do I not know that Mosaic has not transferred them to these CDs? I do not want to end up with yellow drums. That should not be my fate in life, you know what I mean?
  15. What about Gettin' Around? Embarrassing to admit, when I first read this post I mixed up GA (which I think is DG's weakest BN) and Our Man in Paris mixed up, and I was surprised you were so favorable on the album! Oh yeah, forgot about that one...used to be one of the "rarities" in the 70s, seemed like it had one pressing, then went OOP...I was thrilled when I found a sealed copy...liked "Heartaches" a lot, learned the solo, actually, but the rest of it...I really can't remember it, so there's your answer (and mine, right?). Don't know that I've even played it since 1979 or so.

  17. Already renewed for Season 3. Well, so much for going out on top.

  19. Here's some Terry Pollard for ya'.
  20. Ok, I have some doubts that it's fully legit, but ok, I don't care, is there a link please? Innocent until proven guilty and/or ordered.
  21. I'm still not able to overcome the 40-ish year old memories of not being able to make it through any one side of a Zeitlin LP w/o falling asleep (not from boredom, just...I don't know). Ever. I'd be all, hey, this is nice, and then next thing you know, the tone arm has lifted and gone back home, the turntable's not spinning, I feel refreshed, and an hour or so's gone by. OOOPS! This was from a time when I hardly ever slept. Now, I sleep whenever I can, and sometimes more often than that. Can anybody endorsing this set guarantee me that I will be able to live a productive awake life while listening to this music?
