Just...think about this for a second..."could have" been a home run is not a factor. If it "could have" been a home run, the umpires would have reviewed the play, and if appropriate, ruled that the ball cleared the fence, awarded the batter a HR, and no fan interference would have been called. In that case, i bet Dawg stays in the park, and whoops it up (and rightly so). Hell, I would hope that he would! But from what I can tell (again, video welcome), there was no question about whether the ball "could have" been a home run. It was obvious to all that the ball could not have been, in fact, was not, a home run, that it was obviously staying on the field side of the wall, and that the only outcomes were out or how many bases do we award the batter that are greater than 0 but less than 4?. They could have called the batter out. They gave him a double. Dawg could have been mortally wounded, but instead escaped with a flesh wound. And if the ball really was going to be a home run (which is completely different than "could have been", hell, do you want to give a batter a HR on a ball that "could have" been a home run because of, say Wind Interference? Of The Ballpark Dimension Differential? all of which occur more than fan interference), and all the batter got was a double, you should be really, REALLY pissed off - but at the umpires, not at Dawg. Dawg might very well have put Scutaro on second instead of Upton putting him back on the bench! But nobody was putting that ball into the stands. (again, video welcome to advance the case that the umpires failed - AGAIN! - to award the batter a home run that he should have been awarded). But if you want to instead tell me that AT&T enforces rules that don't exist against fan action that violates no rules, hey, your cries against AT&T's Arbitrary Authoritarianism are welcome here. We are The Voice Of The People! However, I think you need to report that to The Office Of The Commissioner, not to us here at Organissimo! Because that shit just ain't right.

Fans who reach into the field of play should be ejected. That's not what happened in Arlington. That ball was already over the wall. Interference cannot be called on a ball that's already a HR. Got video so we can contrast and compare? But let's not make this more complicated than it needs to be. In both cases, the rules were appropriately applied by the umpires and the stadium staff. Meanwhile, here's some Giants' fans real-time reaction. Sounds like they know the guy. http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2013/5/12/4324500/open-gamethread-5-12

Ringo had a pocket! Another one of Paul's early bass lines. Not "complicated" harmonically, just apreggiated rock and roll, but it is does set up a dynamic to where you either keep it up RIGHT THERE or else you get the hell out and start cutting corners. This guy's time is just a tad draggy, but he gets the point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzSDAy5D59Y This young lady, otoh, is trying, but for whatever reasons, she can't hang all the way and has to cut corners: Point being just that Paul could hang, didn't have to cut corners, and did it in real time back in the day. The Purple Chick stuff was a minor revelation for me as to what extent this was true. Of course, this was all relative to Beatleworld, but still...we're talking about why Tony Williams & Jimi Hendrix would want to jam with Paul McCartney. Precisely because there was Beatleworld, that's why, and yeah, Paul McCartney (and Ringo) brung it the way it needed to be brung in order for that to have been so. Not Just Teen Appeal. Although damned if I see Miles going there.

Not Paul McCartney: That bass line takes in a much wider scenario than it would need to if all it wanted to do was to be a simple rock and roll song in 1963. and this guy in 2012 is having to scuffle to make it. No that this guy should be anybody's baseline (pun inevitable but unintentional), just sayin'...it's easy to take Paul McCartney's bass playing for granted in a world that now takes Beatlesmusic for granted.

So I get this email today, 05/10/2013, with the subject line ArtistShare Insider News - Blue Note and ArtistShare Partner - Maria Schneider - Billy Childs - Gil Evans Project - Bruce Lundvall And a little graphic that says the insider fan-funded news and I'm thinking to myself, "Insider? Really? I know when Maria Schneider's having her period? I know who Bruce Lundvall just listened to for a few weeks, thought about dealing with, but finally concluded, no, not this, not now, not me? I know all this and SO much more, I'm an INSIDER!!!!" and then I think to myself, "no, I don't know any of this shit, or if I do, it's not from any emails I get from ArtistShare.. I'm just a guy who buys records and gets emails. Just what the fuck am I 'funding" now that I haven't always been funding already?" Hey, I'll buy it if I like, and if I really like it, I'll pimp it, I'll give it the Sincerity Pimp for real. But dammit, don't you DARE try to pimp me by making me think that because I'm your trick-du-now that that makes me an INSIDER. At the very best, on a really good day, I'm a guy who knows some real Insiders (and only a small handful at that). It's an insult to me and to them to try to get me to think that I don't know the difference. Just shut up and sell the damn music, ok? Assholes.

Maybe Jimi should have called Klaus Voorman instead. -

Hell, I'm not sure why it's important that anything be important...I have days like that, weeks, no, YEARS like that sometimes. -
I've met Shari Lewis at a local Target, and she autographed a Lambchop Angel puppet she was selling for both of my kids. Sweet-tough lady, old school show-biz all the way, you could tell, but she was a pro who made every single kid she signed for feel like they were in the only one in her world for the 15-30 second that they were. I was in line for almost an hour and watched her in action. Skills like none other. Amazing. I eat lamb as often as possible. I've been to/through Nashville an number of times too. Nice place to drive through from what I can tell. But I've never heard Matthew Shipp live. I would go to Nashville to do so, but if I can meet Shari Lewis at a local Target, I figure I can do better than drive to Nashville just to hear Matthew Shipp.I'm older now, and the kids are out of the house. Maybe he can come by some day & we can go out for some lamb.

You can probably shape a kid's values more than you can their tastes.

Ok, I know it's not, because you say so, but the second part of #2 really sounds like a Ran Blake variation of "Monk's Mood". There's enough brief melodic and/or harmonic pivot points throughout to sound like that to me. That, and there's something just a little "off" about Monk's Mood" itself, the tempo is not as airy as Monk, and one or few notes/chords sound just a little off-Monkish (there's a cheap tune title for anybody who wants it...), that...hmmm... and this is obviously an extract from a larger melody, given the whhooom intro and the rapid fade out, so...what have we got here? Billy Taylor? I dunno, maybe listening to enough Ran Blake makes it possible for everything to sound like everything else? Not necessarily a bad thing?

Yeah, I'd think so too. Rahsaan hits a lot of people in a lot of places!
