  1. Oh good! I get to eat a fifth of Hellman's and listen to the Lemon Pipers!
  2. You're asking how somebody goes from labor to to lower-management to middle-management to upper-management. Same way(s) as anybody else, I'd bet. For the most part, I like how he's used his business skills. The results, anyway. Haven't heard how the sausage got made, and don't really want and/or need to, not particularly.
  3. Big fan here...so dry, so absurd, yet so wholly believable in some parallel universe that wasn't quite completely parallel. Think I first saw them on the old Dick Cavett late-night ABC show...either there or on Carson when he was still in NY. Only specific I remember was that these guys didn't look like they should be funny at all, at least until they started riffing. They tood their time, weren't at all frantic, just built the insanity, let it develop slowly but inevitably..
  4. I've had these two stuck in my head and haven't been making any effort to them it out. Quite the opposite, in fact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eraV-DMY5Zk&feature=related
  5. Mariano Rivera carted off field after injuring knee in pre-game warmups http://mlb.sbnation.com/2012/5/3/2997648/mariano-rivera-injury-yankees-knee-update
  6. Far be it from me to fault any neologism, but I think I'd like "tanorexic" better than "tanoxeric", at least for now. Google, however, shows it both ways, so...further proof that language moves at the speed of soundlight speedshow.

  8. You'd think the batting coach would say: "Hey, he pitching inside, get off the plate a bit." I mean, if you're the Twins, how do you not get what the pitching pattern is? otoh, the Twins do not seem to be getting too much of anything these days...don't know what happened there...
  9. Those lefties must not have been up on the plate at all, if the location of some of those called strikes is accurate. I still don't know how much stock to put in those charts, but you see something like this and you gotta wonder "wtf?" in some form or fashion.

  11. Man, that's like the third no-no this year, isn't it? Combining those two trains of thought... It be's that way sometimes, no doubt. I'm just sayin'...

  14. Released on Casablanca (sic). Complete. LP. Worth looking for.
  15. Also this: From what I saw on the AMG New Releases newslettersheet, this one's being released on the Parlophone imprint. Sure, it's all EMI, but Parlophone was The Beatles, so...whatever. Also, can I say that it's getting harder and harder to read "music journalism" pieces such as this these days with anything but a detached amusement. It's like, subject matter has talking points, "journalist" reports same and throws in a few semi-relevant facts to make it look like they're doing actual work, talking points hit the press, and BAM here we all are talking about Don Was, The New Blue Note, and all this and all that. Anyway, I do think that Danger Mouse & Norah make a cute couple, and that they would make a great pair on Parks & Recreation should Aubrey Plaza & Chriss Pratt ever leave.
  16. Bernie made some legit sides? I was unaware! http://allmusic.com/...62196/biography I'll keep an eye open for some inexpensive copies. Looks like it could be some fun. Thanks for the tip!
