  1. Whoever wrote that is an unqualified, incompetent, soulless, and fully denatured fragment of a human being who maybe has a shard something to say, but absolutely nothing to tell. Ordinarily I'd add "just my opinion", but not this time.

  3. I like the glove guys myself. Nothing is more exciting than a physics-defying defensive play, imo.
  4. Denny Dias w/Hampton Hawes?
  5. Uh...yeah, sure.
  6. Maybe chuck had a point!
  7. Hank Steinbrenner: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2011/02/steinbrenner_so.html
  8. Where are those voices today?
  9. Aric Efforn Norah Ephron F. Ron Hubbard (the man - or woman - who might have been, or may be now, but who knows for sure?)
  10. Seconded.
  11. Nice full scoring for the four horns, Daniel. You're doing Duke (Pearson) proud! Takes a lot of courage to do that (George) Duke tune as a straight-up instrumental. It's such a bizarre, convoluted construction that the words make it seem a lot more normal than it really is. All I know of Jankowski is that Black Forest EZ-Listening hit, which totally inspired me to not look any further. But that's a nice tune you guys do. I take it there's more to him than the fluffy hit?
  12. Figure as much. That's why I'm waiting.
  13. Hadn't gotten to that one yet. Just Basie Reunion. Saving that other one for later. They should have called it The Halls Of Lester or something like that. Pretty mind-boggling how thoroughly pervasive his spirit is all over the record.
  14. Probably not. This appears to have been a very "stealth" issue, as when I first reported it they were skeptical. But I then included a mp3 rip of the "damaged" passage, & they emailed back that, sorry, they were going to send me a replacement disc right away but couldn't find any w/o the flaw. I'd then get periodic emails saying that they were totally befuddled by this & were working on getting a fix. The last one of those type emails was several months ago, and then, yesterday, out of nowhere, there the replacement disc was in the mailbox, raw. No note, no nothing, just a disc in a plain white folder shipped in a standard padded mailer. So there must not have been very many discs affected, and there must not have been anybody reporting it to them, at least until I did. Either that or else they're a bunch of dirty stinking liars, which I do not believe to be the case.
  15. I had, and figured that anybody else (at least in these confines, where the ready availability of Mosaic reps to handle customer service issues is pretty much a known quantity) with the same issue would have been as well.
  16. Listening to this now & thinking that the whole thing sounds like one big 4-D rendering of The Universe Of Lester Young. I'm smiling thinking that thought.
  17. Great argument for not handling rare breakables "the morning after" as well...
  18. The ablum doesn't work particularly well, no, but at least in part because it's not a full-fledged collaboration. Gil's work is only heard on some tunes. It doesn't really flow. I'd like to hear what he wrote for the project that wasn't used. I suspect it might have presented too steep a challenge for Astrud.
  19. Without warning, fanfare, or explanation, a replacement Disc 1 arrived yesterday. The glitch has been removed.
  20. That guy had the shaky hands.
  21. The video mentions at least one Thornhill-era chart, as well as some things done for Astrud Gilberto. Also some "newly discovered compositions", whatever that means. It's not due until 2012, but I can tell you that ArtistShare is big on providing "progress updates" on their projects, so pre-ordering now makes sense if you want that.
