  1. If you look at that HMV list, you'll see some Bud Shank reissues of some of his MOR dates. These are "specialty items" indeed, but people who don't reflexively gag on such things should be aware that as far as these things go, they really ain't bad, and that the album of Beatles covers is really pretty wack, if only in its own way.
  2. If Eric were alive, he'd buy it himself!
  3. Yeah, Hamilton could play some really gritty tenor when he felt like it, even if his tone was kind of "closed".
  4. It's been a while since I've heard it, but I think that might be Jimmy Hamilton, whose tenor playing was quite the "conceptual" opposite of his clarinet playing,
  5. The material I've heard has been in good-enough sound. It also documents Toshiko's passing through the Mingus orb.
  6. The Crusaders were somwhat "connected", not in the Tommy Tedesco/Bud Shank/Carol Kaye "we know everybody and play every gig" sense, but as I understand it, the group did have a fair amount of SoCal "crossover" appeal by the mid/late 60s and the individual members had begun doing a variety of sessions. That any one of them made a connection that resulted in a scoring gig for what amounts to an "industrial" film wouldn't be too big a surprise. L.A. can be like that, ya' know.
  7. Could be Wilton...don't know if he ever doubled on record, but a gig like this would be a good place to do it. Other than that...who fits that would have been running in The Crusaders' circle around this time?
  8. And sometimes getting them is even less fun...
  9. Email is always used, but if you're wanting to be "with the times" be ready to text at least as much as you email.
  10. Wilton Felder on tenor, definitely. Quite possibly The Jazz Crusaders as a whole.
  11. Send a flash drive w/everything on it, including video.
  12. I'd like to see somebody invent a bath towel that leaves behind a discrete layer of talcum powder.
  13. But do you think that the Phillies were a tougher team than the Yankees? I'm pretty nervous about this one, to be honest, Series Virginity aside...
  14. Is it just me or did that NL series look like a bunch of big mean old street guys playing big mean old street baseball? And I mean old as in grizzled, not decrepit. Hell, I halfway expected to see leather and chains before it was all over. The Rangers gonna have their hands full, to say the least.
  15. Vlad has played some RF this year, so look for him there.
  16. Unfortunately those days are behind us. We're now in the days where anything is sold for money. For example, on the Mets radio telecasts, when they reach the 15th batter, a certain insurance company sponsors it. Don't think the Rangers will be immune to it either, especially as they transform into a more successful franchise. They just signed an extremely lucrative extension of their TV contract with Fox...and say, Jsngry, who was that fellow sitting next to Nolan Ryan during Game 1 of the ALCS? The guy who should have stayed where he was, that's who. (like I didn't see THAT one coming! ) The whole money thing...it's passed/past the point of no return...it's wrong, and it's broken...and when the reality finally catches up to the truth, it's going to be ugly. If the Rangers get to the point where they are just as much a part of the problem as those who already are, I'll turn them off too. Big is cool. Ravenous...not so much. But that's a long way off, and may never come to pass. "The powers that be" in this world have no intention whatsoever of surrendering the status quo. Insurrections come & insurrections go, but when the smoke clears, there they are. So for the time being, party on!
  17. Same here...so far they're starting @ 600 for SRO...just a tad too much, but...I don't know... Wishing you guys almost all the best, if you know what I mean.
  18. So they said, but why? One day rest, even for just one inning? I don't get it...or agree with it, but the Giants won, so hey. The tables are set, let's all eat!
  19. It did, but...I kinda had a major WTF Moment when I saw that to start the half-inning. You're 6 outs away from a World Series and you bring in an ace starter on waaaay short rest for relief work?
  20. Not really sure how/if this has really turned into a "hate the fan" thing...it sure shouldn't...but if it turns into a "hate uber-corporate anything, including the Yankees" thing, then hey, that's ok by me. And throw the gd f-ing Dallas Cowboys in there while you're at it.
  21. For that matter, why can't hardly anybody on American television - even on cooking shoes - pronounce "jalapeno" correctly?
