  1. I think that this is the look of a man about to snap. RUN FOR COVER!!!!!
  2. Oh hell no! But - they (the ones I find worth remembering, anyway) had a good pocket & had the good fortune to make a 45 or two that captured/presented that. You don't have to be a "good musician" or even have a "good song" to make a "good record". Maybe The Liverbirds made the record or two that captured their pocket to good advantage & I''ve not yet heard it. Entirely possible. It's just that the 5-6 songs I've heard to this point don't encourage me to go looking for it/them.
  3. I dunno....I was there (well, here...) for the whole British Invasion/Beatlemania/etc thing, and this...just doesn't sound all that good to me. There's plenty of other stuff that does.
  4. I swear, I've read the thing three times now, and damned if I can figure out what his real beef is. He's ranting about nobody referencing any jazz made before 1990, but just what the fuck does that mean? What happened in 1990 that made it such a definitive turning point? He's justifying AEC, Public Enemy and Weather Report as valid sources of information but has some bug up his ass about post-1990 jazz not being a valid point of reference? Where is he going with that? It's like the guy is paranoid about shit that he knows isn't real, but he feels some compulsion to create a belief in it inside himself anyway. For what reason, god only knows. I think the Marsalis voodoo kurse has done hit home. The poor man is damn near discomboboolated. Maybe the family can spend that new-found money on Jason, get him into a safe place & get them Bugz out of his Attic.

  11. So he's telling her that her pussy's good enough as part of a buffet, but not $750 mil good enough as an exclusive? And she's telling him that between his dick & his money, his money is better? I don't know whether to laugh, cry, both, or just continue being incredibly disinterested. Lacking reason to change course, I won't. Ah, love.

  13. Those were indeed funny records, but...Python made its US TV debut in the fall of 1974, right here in Dallas, on KERA, the local PBS station. For once, we were ahead of the curve! Biut speaking of British comedy records...was it the Pye label that released some old Goon Show broadcasts on LP? I used to have one of those. Funny stuff indeed!
