  1. I don't know, we seem to do well with dead soldiers and shit like that...
  2. This notion of the permanence of man-made objects is folly. Just look around. Every thing goes at some point. Well, maybe not pyramids. Otherwise, survival of the fittest applies to objects as well as to living species.
  3. Bottom line - nobody cared enough to preserve that house. Nobody. End of story.
  4. Oh yeah, the Mario movie. Watched that with my granddaughter. It was fun. Sorry for invading your presence.
  5. Parks and Recreation is the extent of my exposure to Pratt. That was good and that was enough.
  6. Robots? I'd rather have humans up their game. Is that asking too much?
  7. “Perhaps a historic-cultural monument designation could have saved the Zimmerman house, or allowed the necessary time to delay demolition. Tragically, calls for preservation fell on deaf ears.” So hey. Apparently Chris Pratt wasn't the only one who didn't give a shit, so don't blame him.
  8. Ok, who is this? Jamie?
  9. A teaser cut ("C3") showed up in my Spotify"New Releases For You" feed. Works for me just fine, and am preordering the digital release, for sure.
  10. So will I. The Rangers are treading water right now...hopefully Bochy can keep bailing water until the leaks all get plugged. The rest of the division has been most helpful in that regard.
  11. It's the Young Brothers band. Might even be Lester singing? The subject is mentioned in here.
  12. Well, this is concert, not staged. But still...yeah, seems like a real (and rare) opportunity! Fabio Luisi came to the DSO with a solid reputation as an operatic conductor, so maybe this is some kind of networked synergetic machinationalism. No matter, I ain't complaining! Really looking forward to seeing what Ring Saturation is going to be. They did a concert version of Die Walküre a few years ago and just that one fucked up my head, very much. The "super-captions", being able to follow the story in real time instead of just "understanding" it...that thing got dark in a hurry and never lit up. No light at the end of THAT tunnel... So yeah, I am excited (and thankful/grateful) for this opportunity!
  13. We hardly travel these days and my wife doesn't do opera (at all...), so this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Carpe dieming! I have a DVD set of the whole thing, but getting uninterrupted viewing time in this house is difficult, even for ballgames. Apparently the DSO is the only orchestra in North America doing this right now and inquiries are coming in from all over America. First the eclipse, now the Ring. What's next?
  14. In October. DSO is doing concert versions of it. Oct 13, 15, 17, & 20. Prebooked today for the low price of $282.00. Decent enough seats too! https://ringcycle.dallassymphony.org/?utm_source=TIA&utm_medium=pmax&utm_campaign=ring+cycle&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlZixBhCoARIsAIC745BGLpdp23rz-73CVRRq11AUvrAkKQF8UnTtPNo8MYlSL-k41dG97sAaAvdsEALw_wcB Hey!
  15. Can't really name the names, haven't looked at that, but there's some things on here that unabashedly and unhesitatingly (is that the same thing?) embrace modern music (including electronics) with a very invigorating result. I like that! There's also a vocal or two that sound like it's 1979 all over again, which is ok, except...it's not 1979 all over again. Really, it's not. Thanks for trying, though, I guess.
  16. Was she related to Molly Ivins? They kinda look alike? Kinda?
  17. Scotland got a couple of crazy motherfuckers!!!
  18. Cuscuna was already a player before he got into the BN vaults. Woody Shaw, Anthony Braxton, Henry Threadgill... Arista, Muse... New music, new players. Not just reissues. His kind of scope is going to be missed. I don't see it coming up in the ranks these days. The people who are left...we know who they are and we wish them continued health and maximum opportunity.
  19. Oh dear...what a contribution. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to family and friends, especially the ones here.

  21. It did. Covered by both Ahmad Jamal & Grover, found in fake books, absorbed into the mainstream via osmosis.
