  1. Discogs says that Vault is now owned by Rhino, but perhaps that is not current info?
  2. There are many great Rollins records from the 1960s.
  3. https://www.discogs.com/release/4080754-Charles-Owens-Mother-Lode-I-Stand-Alone I can be convinced about it! Produced by Richard Bock. Owens was with Buddy Rich at one point, him and Ernie Watts were the altoists, so Bock knew both and recorded both for Vault! https://www.discogs.com/release/2187327-The-Ernie-Watts-Encounter-The-Wonder-Bag Here they both are with Rich on a pretty nutty alto exchange:
  4. Looking (briefly) at their catalogue, they seem to have picked up a fair amount of items that would otherwise have been floundering. Through what means and to what extent, I have no idea. But they seem very eager to lease rights that they claim to have.
  5. She's still on Blue Note?!?!?

  13. I had been "away" from Cowboy football for so long that I had forgotten that this is what they do. Why? Jerry? There's always that. But the team was stiff and the non-existent defensive game plan was nothing short of surrealistic. So yeah, an overall dysfunctionality that always ends up being more sizzle than steak. But Philly...wtf happened there? Whatever it was seemed to have happened more or less at once and couldn't be fixed. Very puzzling barring further revelations.
  14. I don't know that for orchestral music it's advised to let your equipment do your listening for you. So much of this music impacted its worlds in relatively lo-fi environs. I mean, it's good that the music no longer sounded "like a sludge of sounds",, but it likely never did, except in your mind. Whatever. Plunge ahead! It's a very deep body of work, past, present, and future!
  15. So who folded worse - Eagles or Cowboys? And how/why?
  16. Curly Ma Marthias - On The Way Up!!!
  17. The only Medicare that might cover hearing aids is Medicare C, aka Medicare Advantage. There are pros and cons to this type of Medicare, so a user should research the long term implications thoroughly before deciding. My group health plan while working actually did cover hearing aids, and quite generously. So I got them about 6 months before retiring. Glad I did. All this talk about "not needing" to hear higher frequencies is nonsense, btw. Every instrument's tones contain overtones that go up,up, up. Not hearing those gives you a dulled sense of the instruments true sound. I know that my life would be significantly less pleasurable if I could not hear the fullest possible range of cymbal overtones, or the higher overtones made by a vibrating reed, or...on and on.
  18. Let's go AFL!!!!
  19. Make mine fried muscatutti, please.
  20. Tife Figgerton - Old Man Cow
