  1. I bought COSMOS on issue back in the day, and was underwhelmed. Left it alone for years (decades, actually). Pulled it out a few years ago to burn for some friends, and liked it significantly more. Wonder if the Select will contain only the albums listed, or maybe a little more?
  2. I had no idea that Clem Labine wsa ever married to Bob Turley. I find his actions unforgivable.

That explains it, then. The Amercian editions never had that, not even during the Carter administration.
  4. Pearson also produced SUPER NOVA, ODYSSEY OF ISKA, & MOTO GROSSO FEIO for Wayne, none of which are evern remotely commercial.
  5. Hey, Pittsburgh, where's the link?
  6. Darn it maren, is that Newk?

I do not understand what you mean by this.
  8. Well, maybe you can go without yours, but...
  9. I was thinking of the tone. That first 1967 session gets pretty Ra-like in a few places, and the tone Hill was using on the organ brought that home to me. But, yeah, I flashed on some of Young's later BN stuff as well. Fascinating music, all of it!
  10. Was the guy named John Ed Johnson?
  11. So has Dianne Schurr...
  12. To say nothing of clueless.

I knew about Othello Suite, but thought it was about the same time as Esoteric Circle. No? But 1966? Wow, did NOT know about that! Anybody here heard that stuff?
  14. I was thinking Sun Ra, actually.

His earliest recorded work, to my knowledge, was with a group called The Esoteric Circle (associated w/George Russell, btw). That stuff is very hot, and like I said, raw. It puts all of his later stuff into perspective.
  16. Yeah, Dewey's seemed to me like he's always had his changes together.
  17. YES!

Well, tough, you cocksucker. But I do like Garbarek's tone and how it's evolved over the years. The early Esoteric Circle stuff is really raw, actually.
  19. We better quit while we're behind...
  20. Charlie genuinely digs Quartet Out & Captain Sambeaux (the EAI thing I sometimes participate in). His friends do too, which is a real surprise. Too bad they're all under 21 and can't come into a club. Like most fathers & sons, we have our share of rocky times, but music is one thing that inevitable smooths things out. Or, as when he wants to play that Screaming Rock shit at full volume in the car, roughs things up again. Hey - whatcha' goona do?
  21. Yeah, dude. Start nice and take it from there. If she really loves you, she'll understand.
  22. Hey, it's got me wondering if the price of the Patton will soon be "negotiable"!
  23. Charles Lloyd would not be out of the question either.
  24. Especially when your responses consist of quotes and adding one or two lines. Indeed. Exactly!
