  6. Ya' know, back in the day, many jazz musicians were junkies who supported themselves by pimping. Maybe the old guys knew better than we think?
  7. I'm thinking that more people have now listened to the soundtrack than have actually seen the movie...

I like Garbarek quite a bit actually. Very soulful player, if one can expand one's concept of "soul" beyond certain pre-programmed sociological perceptions of what it "is".
  9. Last I looked, I was still alive. Pete will never die, in spite of his numerous efforts. It's a blessing and a curse, I tell ya...
  10. Extra smelly pump!
  11. Paris Concert, baby.
  12. What an INTERESTING result this link now produces! "Hard", yes, but hardly Latin!
  13. Finally saw the film a few years ago, and in more tahn a few spots, the soundtrack sounded like there had been studio players none to skillfully dubbed over Ellington's own players. There were two simulataneous layers of sound - that of the Ellingtonians, and that of the studio players. Different recording sounds for each. The results were disorienting, to put it mildly. The film itself was ok, nothing special.

  20. I don't have it, I'm sure that I would enjoy it, but how the hell did it end up being offered by VH1?
