  1. Oh, but the shark bites.
  2. How'd the cat get the name "Texas"? No matter. He can PLAY!
  3. But you looked once, right?
  4. Yeah, they've got some good stuff there. Enjoy!
  5. Afraid you've come to the wrong place.

  7. Here's a 2004 release of hard-cooking modalish/Traneish stuff that more than makes up for in spirit what it lacks in any "stylistic originality": I tell you, it ain't what you play, it's how you play it. And these guys are playing it for keeps. American Clones can, and should, take note. Recommended.
  8. POLYTITULAR!!!!
  9. Finally got the money flowing again, and have had NOT AFRAID TO LIVE for about a month now. Find it to be darker in mood, and equally compelling. Still a very distinctive story being told here, one without any bullshit and/or sugarcoating going on. I think the albums have been released in the proper sequence, if you know what I mean, but I would not be without either. And I DO eagerly look forward to hearing anything else that remains. I'm sold on Frank Hewitt. I'm wondering - did Hewitt get a chance to record w/a horn player (outside of the Impulse thing)? Luke mentioned a Clarence Sharpe thing somewhere. Sure would like to hear these two guys together if it ever happened. That would be a dose of concentrated reality.
  10. It don't take much to get Brother warm.

    Tony Coe

    Tony Coe can play.
  12. In cyberspace, no one can hear you lie.
  13. If he was a real man, he'd would have been able to tie a knot in it w/o the use of string.
  14. Oooops... Nobody told ME! That's two in one day. Gotta get out of the house more, so to speak... Oh well, STILL brilliant!
  15. From you-know-who: http://www.dustygroove.com/videos.htm#81016 DVD -- Richard Pryor Show -- Vol 1/Vol 2/TV Special (3 DVD Box Set) . . . DVD . . . $32.99 List Price: $39.99 (Item: 81016) Image, 1977 (3Disc) Condition: New Copy The complete four episode run of the long lost, legendary Richard Prior Show from 1977! Richard's sketch show was simply way too blue for 70s American television, and Prior terminated the project after just four episodes, down from the 10 episodes that the network initially ordered, thanks to consistent battling with network censors. If you kiddies dig the Chappelle's Show as much as we do, this is fundamental viewing -- brilliant, razor sharp, fearless stuff from one of the greatest and most influential comedian's who ever lived! This DVD features the four complete episodes, plus never-before-aired footage, with appearances by pre-superstar/hilarious Robin Williams, Paul Mooney, John Witherspoon (Friday), Sandra Bernhard, Charles Fleischer and many others. The DVD box set includes deleted scenes, a q&a session with Richard, plus a never-before-seen 37 minute Richard Pryor "Mudbone" monologue, an unedited 44-minute roast, a thick booklet that includes ideas for sketches that never happened (Gay Nightmare!, Whitey For A Day. . .) and lots more! (From the Videos page.) If you saw it when it was on, you'll never forget it. If you've never seen it, now's the time. BRILLIANT.
  16. Whilst on a road trip to Wichita Falls this past Friday, I happened to stop in at the local Hastings and found these Salsa gems for $3 each: Ismael Rivera - ESTO ES LO MIO (Tico) Tico-Alegre All Stars - LIVE AT CARNEGIE HALL VOL. 1 (Tico) Willie Colon & Associates - 49 MINUTES (Fania) Louie Ramirez & Ray De La Paz - OTRA NOCHE CALIENTE (Sony/RMM) Great stuff, every one. And the price was RIGHT! This in addition to the following jazz items: Ahmad Jamal - FREEFLIGHT (GRP/Impulse!) Bob Belden - SHADES OF BLUE (BN) Teddy Edwards & Houston Person - HORN TO HORN (Muse) Creative Music Studio - WOODSTOCK JAZZ FESTIVAL VOL. 1 (Douglas): Konitz/Corea/Vitous/DeJohnette Various - JAZZ LOFT SESSIONS (Douglas) 9 CDs, and the total was under $39 before tax. Gotta love THAT! Love those road trips too. Leave early to allow time for shopping!
  17. The latter. You know the guy who wrote "Lulu", the opera. See, you condense that opera, and you get a "Little Lulu", and... Aw hell, time for a new avitar anyway!

  19. Neverthenonetheless, although Natalie is a bit, ahem, "shrill", the hit they took from the "Country Establishment" over the Bush thing was just plain bullshit. I hate having to come to the defense of those I don't really care for, but life's a bitch, and then you die, right? Consider the alternative...
  20. I've been gigging with a guitar player who toured with them for a few years (before, during, and after the Bush flap), and the answer to the question "Will Success Spoil The Dixie Chicks" is apparently "yes". Hey, shit happens.
  21. They was more fun before Natalie took over.
  22. Hell, I'D love to take credit for that quote!
  23. Yes. Fascinating, perhaps a "practice tape", perhaps recorded a day or two before his untimely death. No "tunes" per se. Also perhaps of "questionable" legitimacy, which is not to judge one way or the other, since I don't have the exact specifics to do so.
