  1. The lsat few weeks, I've been in several towns w/Hastings stores, and there seem to be an relatively large influx of "used" OJCs. Might this be a sign?
  2. It wasn't just Chicago. In Dallas, it was Green Valley Raceway. "Green Valley"...sounds like a cemetary of sorts, no?
  3. Is Clay in the band as well?
  4. Does he see you when you're sleeping?
  5. It's like Stanley Dance, only without the intellegence, soul, and credibility.
  6. I am indeed happy that Frank Hewitt's music is striking others as it has struck me (and I'd imagine that Luke Kaven is more than happy). Sometimes I hear something that strikes me, and nobody else hears what I hear. Doesn't change my mind, . but it's still more fun your enthusiasm can is shared. I'm in one of those periodic "tight" phases financially right now, which is why I haven't yet gotten the new one. But when the money loosens up, that' going to be one of, if not the, first thing I order.
  7. That is indeed a good one (as is he), but you'll perhaps be interested to know that he's just come out with a new one on Delmark (w/John Young aboard, no less):
  8. Thanks for the tip!
  9. Who's the arranger?
  10. Oh, THOSE guys...
  11. This puppy went for only $15?
  12. Who is John Plonsky, and why is he worth $212.50? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...bayphotohosting
  13. One flurry of answers from Tom on that thread a while back, and nothing since.
  14. Tom, are you referring to Frank Hewitt? Definitely fits the bill.
  15. Buck Hill & Fred Anderson.
  16. Same cat. I was listening to Griff's BUSH DANCE reissue last night, and George just made me get happy, like he always does. A tone and attack suitable for a late-40s L.A. jumb blues band, deviously fluid chops, and no compunctions against going against the grain of the harmony. What's not to love there? Jim - you got that LAST BLUES ALBUM, VOL. 1, w/McGriff, Jacquet, George, & Buddy Rich?
  17. Is there an orchestra on this album?
  18. Everything I've heard. The guy's a trip!
  19. So I did.
  20. http://www.nybigband.com/index.htm
  21. ACTING!!!!
  22. 2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar. All for Gladewater, stand up and holler!!!!
