  1. Like I said earlier...
  2. "Sure, everybody looks at them now. But what if she got her head lopped off? Whose breasts would they look at THEN? It's not like everybody's looking for the next Venus DeMilo..." "Hmmmm, that gives me an idea... Time to call Carlos..." "Oh Jayne...Jayne darling...What kind of car do you drive? And when will you be going to New Orleans?"
  3. Green Bay did everything it took to win in regulation except keep the ball out of McNabb's hands one last time. Fatal mistake, that (and, of course, Favre's brain favrt in OT). But I think w/the way their running game was going that punting on 4th down was not the best choice. Same with those piddlyass pass plays on 3rd down earlier on. I'm watching all this go down thinking that the Pack was setting themselves up for an ass-biting further on up the road, and sure enough... Give it up for McNabb - he had a rough game up until crunch time, and then he responded magnificently and found a way. Of such things are true champions (of character) made, not rings and trophies.
  4. There have been some good'uns so far, eh?
  5. Is a psedonym a possibility?
  6. Super Bowl won't be at home. Hey man, we earned homefield advantage. We all knew the rules going in. 14-2 ought to earn you something. Won't argue that. CAN'T argue that. But I'd still like to see them get through a playoff series playing on the road. Just because...
  7. I'd like to see the Pats get through an entire playoff series w/o getting to play every game in Foxboro. Not saying they couldn't do it, just that I'd like to see it.
  8. Indeed, welcome, and Happy Birthday!
  9. Merry Birthday! wait a sec...
  10. I could easily fall in love with a woman of such wit, intellegence, patience, and hipness. To say nothing of one that hasa darn near perfect tolerance for caca del torro of the benign variety. I could fall in love with such a woman faster than it takes for Lee Young to lose the tempo. I could, but my wife would kill me... Happy Birthday, Patricia. Stay as sweet (and everything else) as you are.
  11. Lester Young generally gets credit for the word. And doesn;t he mean "Kind Of Cool"?
  12. Well, there you go. That don't sell records (or so the label mavens seem to think...). This "image" crap can backfire amongst the core jazz listening audience. That look leads me to expect something along the lines of Me'Shell NdegéOcello or some such, which is cool, but... I'll check her out sometimes.
  13. Jimmy Cleveland is a BAAAADDD mofo who seems to get less props than his playing deserves. Seems like its always JJ, Curtis, & Rosolino who get the first nod amongst bebop/hard bop trombonists, and they're deserving, sure. But Clevleand consistently displayed some of the most amazing "pre-Watrous" chops on record (or at least what I, as a non-trombonist, consider "amazing chops"), with a great feel and good ideas to go with them. Always a winning combination, that is. And although it's entirely a subjective evaluation, I think he was a more "natural" player in terms of feel and ideas than those guys. That's just how he reaches me. Maybe it's a "Southern" thing, I don't know. I first heard him on the Sonny Rollins Period date, but it was years before I found out who it was, since the Everest Archive of Folk & Jazz Music issue of that album listed no personnel. That "anonymous" trombonist was the cause of much admiration and speculation for quite a while. Yeah - Jimmy Cleveland gets much love from me.
  14. Good choice, considering the fabulous footwear precedent set by that classic album.
  15. Well, ok. Can the mp3 idea. I'll take in de-clicked and re-EQed 30 IPS 1" reel-to-reel dubs from the LPs instead. I can do that, with a little help from my friends. Don't ask. So, now that the "quality" issue has been resolved, what would be your selections?
  16. Shit. I got nearly all this stuff (the Mitchell, not the N.O.) on LP, but the Mosaic Mystique Bug bit again. Ordered last night, the last order of business before going to bed, Is that sick or what?
  17. Damn, Jim, that's shallow. Well, yeah. But she's on Verve, and I know that somebody's doing "image construction" on her, so consider it consumer feedback. The whole "Carnaby St. Lesbian" look does not make me want to listen to her music. Besides, what's up with the extra "z" in "Lizz"? WAY too damn "cute" for me. I HATE cute! Live by the image, die by the image. Them's the facts of life.
  18. Damn, Jim, that's shallow.
  19. Of all the posts to bring you out of exile... Well, yeah, mp3s are lacking in some essential qualities, but I look at it like it's a digital world for the forseeable future, like it or not, so I'm going with that for better or worse. Besides, my village cobbler is Old School all the way and has some tweaks he can do in the transformation/manufacturing process to restore some of the lost soul. He looks like Ike Quebec, believe it or not! I thought about taking my vinyl into him, but it's my life insurance, doncha' know...
  20. Oh brother. My feets been killing me. I need some good shoes, some shoes that feel like Blue Note. So, I'm going to visit the village cobbler next week, and I'm going to take along a selection of Blue Note mp3s and have him turn them into shoes, shoes that fits right and wear wells. They can actually do that in this digital age of ours! Oh buddy, them's gonna be some shoes, for goodness sakes yes! I can't reveal my selections just yet - I'm superstitious that way, and besides, I'd like further input from the experts - yuallen - before making my final call. I know that all feets is different, but the brotherhood of mankind surely have a common musical/podiatrical bond that can be discerned if only we bother to ask and investigate without fear our shame clouding our visionality. If I don't believe anything else about this this life of our's, I believen this. So, what Blue Note music would YOU turn into shoes for YOUR tired and weary feets?
  21. The look so does NOT work for me,
  22. music boy in the presence of Norah:
  23. Yeah, I had something similar happen once, only it was the birds that sounded like car hotrns and the car horns that sounded like birds. And Eric Dolphy's flute playing sounded like a car horn building a nest!
  24. You think that's Ravi Shankar's son?
