Ok, haven't yet had time to seriously listen to the entire thing yet, but all the chatter about #3 made me curious enough to cheat. I was already curious anyway. All I can say is WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yes, but... It appears that the "Academy" is considering it a 2022 release (which it is). Take it up with them and/or whoever waited 5-ish years to put it out. No matter, it's quite the fine record.

Probably off the live record that came out last year, the one with Esperanza. It's a fine record.

  12. Hello! Your soul will need a lifetime of skin grafting to recover from even the most casual hearing, never mind repeated serious listening.

  14. Only you get Ben Webster/Illinois Jacquet instead of Charlie Ventura, and Count Basie on piano instead of Pee Wee Erwin on trumpet....plus some one-offs by Quincy Jones and Jimmy Jones. Me, I make that deal every time. Definitely an upgrade in value.
  15. Check it out.

  18. I need more quiet in my head than I have now to be able to do this one full justice. But I know it's there to be had.
  19. It was Ricky Ford's three Candid dates that got my attention, much more than his Muse records did. Those were "interesting", but the Candid's were gripping!
  20. Hammie & Sammie - UH-oh!!!!!! featuring the legendary "Fill 'er Up" routine.
  21. Discogs is awash with LP copies.
  22. who did the CD? Ok, Japan. Anybody else?
  23. Not going to be for every taste, of course. But read these liners carefully, look at the names involved, and proceed accordingly. Not finding this on Spotify, but it does pop up in pieces on Pandora. I think it's really nice and copies ae abundant in both quantity and inexpensiveness. I have carpe diemed.
  24. That guy did a LOT of stuff. For that we can certainly be thankful. I do think that the revamped Candid had a certain gemminess that is not appreciated in today's enviroment. RIP, with P standing for PAY.
