  3. Yes to the record, no to the pricey-ass LP.
  4. It would have helped if I had actually included an example...DOH!
  5. Nellie Fox Rupert Murdoch Joe Buck
  6. Girl Talk Odd Couple Beaucoup movie and TV gigs What happened to him is that he probably died rich.
  7. Yeah, Joe Farrell far exceeds expectations here!
  8. ...a guest appearance by Larry Young, who plays the piano instead of the organ... I see this on the translated Japanese site but not on the Blue Note... what's the deal here?
  9. This one was better served by the redo imo. Gil's vision with these sessions was quite expansive and quite electric (to match the cover!). The LP kinda felt like a compromise to me, always did. I still have the it, but always reach for the CD. It seems like the real album to me. Gil's involvement seems like validation for that.
  10. Gertrude Heathcliffe Jonathan Livingston
  11. Didn't discover the farting until I put "What A Little Moonlight Can Do" on one of my BFTs and was reviewing every thing for sequencing, flow, just hyperlistening, and there it was. I tried to make be something else, anything else. But nope. It's a fart.
  12. Still my favorite of the bunch...Sonny Phillips on piano and there's farts on one of the tunes, honest to god farts.
  13. Wess & Foster were the two tenors for a good while. Ernie Wilkins played second alto. After he left. Bill Graham took his place. After Graham left, that was when Wesson moved over to alto. The only memorable Wesson alto solo with Basie that I can remember is this one:
  14. Whispering Jack Smith Smilin' Jack Brother Jack McDuff
  15. Mangrove Scuppernong - TV Show!!!
  16. Calvin Trillin Calvin Hill Hank Ballard
  17. Produced by Crud Taylor, how about that?
  18. Very Brubeck-y... If there was ever a Brubeck Columbia Live box (and there should be), this would be in it
  19. Bossier St. Pierre - Chigger Bite Boogie
  20. George Rath Keven Bacon The Three Degrees
  21. To do both would have taken 2 CDs though?
  22. In Japan & France: https://www.discogs.com/master/281048-Gil-Evans-And-His-Orchestra-There-Comes-A-Time I prefer the reconfigured version, but if you want the whole potato, you need both. But the original has the better cover, by far. Never really liked those Bluebird covers.
