  1. Deliciously so.
  2. Music from what was left of Miles' orb from the time when it was not clear if he had an orb at all. No overt MilesMusic (except the melody of the title cut), but a few things sound like they were coming from there, and maybe could have gone there, had there been a there for them to go. all in all, not a great record, but a good one, and another piece of the electric Miles Diaspora Story.
  3. No idea if this qualifies, but I LOVE this one. If you want to piss off as many "jazz purists" as possible, lead with this one, see how many are left by the time it's over, and then award points accordingly.
  4. and some us don't drink.
  5. I guess these days you would recommend a playlist instead of a sampler...unless your friend is old, in which case, tell them that vinyl sounds better and get busy brokering some deals that benefit everybody, especially you!
  6. Would they be asking to learn about the music or to have a new hip lifestyle accessories? Those are two different questions with two (or more) different answers. And that's why I don't like to answer questions from civilians, at least not unless they ask more than once and/or show that they want a serious answer and not some sillyass shopping list. They got beaucoup sampler collections for that. Actually...you could recommend them five such samplers and do them a favor ..
  7. Bu Clakkie - I Feel Pretty?
  8. So, by jazz, you mean...what, exactly? Or Blue Note, for that matter, but my hunch is that the first question answers the second? Also, no two friends are the same...not that I have that many.
  9. There's a Volume 2, ya' know! For a quick minute there I thought about collecting all the LPs, but soon found out that there were more than I had expected.
  10. Zoom, Twitter, Tik-Toak, it's all sorta the same thing. Less so zoom, maybe, but still, it's built on the premise that if you can see me, that's all it takes to get something done. For office meetings, hey, yeah, sure. but for music, hey look at me, this is what you want, so here it is, stop me when/if you don't like it anymore....this is what it is. The ultimate in 21st Century Pop Music. All The Hit All The Time. And nobody should be surprised. Narcissistic bias-confirmation is built into the entire social-media paradigm (and has long been both predicted and proven) . If you can "build an audience" this way and then monetize it, hey, why wouldn't you? "Road" long ago lost whatever meaning it had, "road" is dead. Nope, nobody should be surprised, and really, nobody should complain, especially a Twitter user who's probably hoping to go viral. Sorta proving the point, that one is.
  11. What does "road time" look like these days?
  12. I think that Twitter is its own satire.
  13. Afraid not. Never even seen that one....still looking.
  14. He's done a good number of original, and, most importantly, interesting (both to listen to and to play) originals,
  15. Dave Matthews has a lot of fans, sold a lot of records, and has a lot of imitators. So somebody's getting it, a lot of people apparently. Not me, but...you know, I still think that Elvis was and is bullshit, so, again, I am not the target audience for any of this stuff. And that's perfectly fine with me.
  16. How's the sound on that one?
  17. Dig that dog! Pretty good record as well. Tenor trio, nowhere to hide.
  18. Estelle Mira - Still Looking
  19. i don't much like it, but I don't think that I'm the guy they're trying to communicate with. As for life being "hard"...there's plenty of fear and apprehension all over the world, about the world. That's hard foe everybody (well, almost everybody...), and not just young women. So if this is how they're feeling (and apparently enough are for it to have become a thing to be mocked), let them say it their way. Still and all, i don't much like it. Bbut I don't think that I'm the guy they're trying to communicate with.
  20. Stealth and/or sneaky!
  21. Yes. That one created a buzz when it was new, even though the label was smallish and the artist not yet an established name. Talent doesn't always win out, but greatness will not be denied!
