  5. Still The Band That Plays The Blues The above are from the Fantasy album spotlighting guest artist Michael Bloomfield, who I never really liked (nor disliked). But the cuts without him are really nice. Early 70s were quite good for Woody. The charts by Broadbent, Tony Klatka, and Bill Stapleton were frequently fresh, and the band responded accordingly.
  6. Frosty the Snowman Albert Collins Bootsy
  7. This. And...Heavy Exposure (LP only) is about 50/50 gems/crap, but the gems give you this gemmiest of gems At the end of the day, it's still The Band That Plays The Blues, right?

  9. Even with Michel Petruccaini, this qualifies as a gem, and most certainly an overlooked one at that! Gil Goldstein uses the "keyboards" to create Gil Evans-ish "electric" colors, and wayne just jumps right in (as was his wont when he so wanted).

  11. Yep. They're telling you what they want you to know, which is probably also lined up with what you want to hear.
  12. Big hairy cough syrup spiders, yeah!
  13. To that end, drum machines skillfully done, to play all parts

  16. That's essentially a sponsored ad for Marantz.
  17. The mistake is to not take those lyrics literally.
  18. it's all about going beyond the waking, conscious, forced external intrusional-delusional stimuli and getting into what lies beyond.
  19. Better yet, plug them in an don't "rock it".
  20. Montego Joe came to Dallas with Ted Curson in the late 1970s as "featured guests" at an attemted-annual John Coltrane Festival. Both did not behave well nor play particularly well either. Curson had a documented history to support this performance being a big let-down instead of a determination indicator, but with Montego Joe, I'm afraid it was more or less a "fuck this clown and his New York Attitude no playing ass" thing. James Clay, who was also the leader of the bnad that accompanied them, extended that verdict to both of them, but that was James clay's prerogative, certainly not mine!
