  3. That guy who's on all the Highlights For Children album covers, what's his name, passed away last year, hell, I forget.

  6. Whispering was a popular song recorded by many people.
  7. Expense is not a concern. I got 40 bucks. What the issue is, is that $40 for a new record (a 2-LP set but only 3 sides of music) of a CD that I already have, JUST to get it in AAA...Not seeing the value there for me.
  8. w/Joe Bonner, Bruno Carr, & Ken Walker on the bass. A spirited outing!
  9. I"m gonna carpe that 29 on some other diem and wait for a friendly burn of that new lp. Besides, my record player might have an old blunt needle.
  10. Lo Bosworth Lo Wei Gene Puerling
  11. It's a good record, I was very pleasantly surprised, and the AAA chain intrigues me more than a little, but....$40 for a double lp? For a NEW lp, not, like a Mint OG Horo... I can let that go. Had to think about it first, though For $20, though, yeah. In a minute. Let an LP be a LP.
  12. as opposed to Spiritual(s).
  13. "spiritual" as opposed to "materialistic"
  14. and in space they have a Fuller understanding.
  15. It was happening in R&B the same time it was happening in jazz. The culture as a whole was looking for more than just capitalism and war (was there a difference at that time in our history?). so, you know, the choices were revolution with guns and shit, or "spiritual". Everybody represenhted Fred Hampton, but who wanted to end up like him? So, you know...other options. and to willfully ignore the music of the black church at any point, even today, on black music as a whole....ok, do that if you want to, just don't think you know something about any of it if you can't be bothered with all of it. because it's like that.
  16. he will be missed by them until they join him in space.

  18. 1925, eh? Like when jazz players played actual spirituals?
  19. damn. he had a bunch of video too, iirc, one of the early jazz-to-vhs proponents, right? that's a terrible loss, horrible, actually. One hopes that there is a repository of 2nd-generation copies of pieces still remaining. With legal rights and stuff being what they are, the Anderluzzionans could do far worse than to combine these two Hillcrest LPs into one disc. they seem to not give a damn about that no matter what, so here, go do this then. Then again, I done did my own, so...
  20. Too close...
  21. Fits on one CD with the other one. The inquiring mind wants to know....what else is there still extant? It's a groove listening to Paul Bley comp behind Ornette...and then to go to the Floater session.
  22. Tinker Hatfield Freddy McCoy Stephen Feuder
  23. He almost died not too far back, right? Thus the title, not the pandemic?
  24. That could be interesting....so it's a true AAA chain?
  25. aka which was easily - and correctly filed under Bley, alongside Coleman Classics. But now....Cherry? Huh? No.
