if they really are copy tapes of the masters sent to europe, than shouldnt there be a bunch of prestige master copies in europe???? cause theyre not vangelder stamped, he didnt mail stampers or metal parts.... the vinyl quality is way better than US, these sound fantastic. got a euro press of CHAMBERS MUSIC that looks like its shellac or styrene, its as fragile as glass. got it for 10 bucks, mint too. ill be dammed if it doesnt sound 100 times better than the transition pressing prob does -

INTRO TRUDY PITTS/Prestige --- i can see why this one was so hard to locate, it truly is one of the more unique b3 albums of the time, i love her b3 setting on 'spanish flea', by far my favorite rendition of that song. -

u guys i saw on my vacation this really cool EARLY (maybe not 50s but definetly no later than mid 60s) japan copy of the Dex, but the vinyl was shellac or styrene and it would of definetly broke in my suitcase, so i passed. i have an original of the buddy collette, watch out for that tonearm on the last groove....ouch! wonder if they actually have the masters for these. im guessing prob not. i wonder where they are! -
thanks MG, i think i have that one

if any of you folks know claude and can relay it to him, tell him thank you for the new info about the source of this stuff. im still perplexed over how claudes copy is a reel dub from japan and not a reel dub from europe or somethin. i wonder who has the true master. i wanted to ask claude if he feels the reel could see significant improvement with the best HQ transfer you could do in 2013..... -
i think its kinda cool this guy still wont go digital, all this time- he must have his reasons. i wonder what they are. maybe hes just really old skool and has no interest. i dont know. he must be rich, cause $ doesnt seem to be an issue,....

NO, claude. wtf. ive been dying to understand the prdigree of this- you have a reel copy you received from japan 25 years ago? do you know how did they hook it up all the way in japan, who did they get it from? can you reval your source or if not that can u tell us the story of how you got it, without revealing your source? god claude that reel copy must sound amazing. are you saying in your post, the sound of the reel compares to the sound of the cds? do you feel in your opinion could the sound q be improved significantly with a new quality mastering?? -

i was curious about what this was about, the only lp i ever come across is the earl hines trio lp, i dont know of any others. the cover art and print and back cover layout is all exactly like how a period prestige lp would have been, and its produced by don schlitten too. the label logo, very similar to prestige family logos. would this lp label Focus, be considered part of the prestige family of labels (like status), or is it separate cause its distributed by atlantic. or is it essentially just a prestige lp dist. by atlantic cause it looks too similar -not- to be, the font on the spine for example is exactly the same. no way they could get everything like exactly the same w/o some help. and dons there. my guess is its some kind of deal between prestige and atlantic somehow, but i dont know what.
