Lee Morgan bootlegs on Trip
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to slide_advantage_redoux's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
ok i just got the Phoenix10 "out there" version------ right now on willow weep.....THE.SOUND.QUALITY. IS. *********AMAZING************. this sounds like its "in the room" with me. the dynamic range isnt as great as say, an early 80s w. german cd pressing, but omg what it lacks in dr it compeletly makes up for and more in presense. if youve never heard this lp youve never heard lee morgan live!!!!!!!!!!this lp obvously must sound exactly like whatever mastertape (and with Phoneix or Trip, i mean that very loosely) it was made from -

"The Sleepwalker." omf x10000-g. -
omg, what is up with these. 1st of all they are very cheap and thrown together looking, the covers look like there even manufactured and printed cheap, the music is always gospel on the ones ive seen from this time period, some of the songs really lay down a groove, more or less, the records are awesome. i just didnt know savoy existed the long....are these the "REAL" savoy....the address on the back deinftely said Elizabeth, NJ....(where HANK lived!).....that brings up another very good point, why didnt they pay hank to do a session, omfg

look, look i can go into more detail about this but i am beyond compreshension upset and mad and sad and angry and scared and nervous i might mess up a fact of two, always feel free to correct chewy on digscographical errors, anyhoo, this was an interesting time for sun ra his rechknozition (sic) level was had already been for some time reaching people who may have no crossed paths w/ sun previously, ie there was a famous rolling stone mag cover story, concerts on bills at festivals in america w/ rock bands (isnt that right?), and so this was a major label deal, to distribute saturn records under the mca/impluse! banner, kind of a big move. the MAIN POINT you need to know is: this deal was supposed to be like quadruple the albums that actually were released..........other saturn titles n stuff....never happened,-- a crime against humanity, but true, ----now test pressings do exist of some, but only like 10% of the original plan was actually released. i would love it if someone knew all the titles here, i dont know anymore, but yea. mca impluse. i mean really. i WOULD like to know more info about this event myself, its really an interesting momement in Sun-History

the contract stipulates mca/impluse has the distrubution rights on earth, but sun ra has them on saturn and outside the solar system n stuff

i am happy he is being recgnoized, but you and me and we all know we dont need **any** national accedidtation to know Von Freeman is an *amazing* tenor saxophonist. Since they have this award, im happy he got it, but its a club he already is in, JAZZ MASTER

http://www.discogs.com/Freddie-Hubbard-Extended/release/1873933 song 2 is "Afreaka"!! okay, that alone makes that lp simply incredible- but i swear the bassist and drummer are fictitious....really? is it really sam dockery and who is billy hayes. is it really louis hayes? Cedars on piano-- it also says c. 1981 but i think it might be from earlier, the recording itself

I have a question about one of my James Brown singles, "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto". How do you tell the difference between 45-year old BBQ Sauce and 45-year old Blood?

k2? i thought there was only one (1) cd issue of that material: the ojc "Messages" cd that elimated "alternating current"/// ------------------------ well you know, its still analog, definetly closer generation to hank blowin' thru the mic than the cd is, its not that bad, the mono button i THINK helps slightly---------its still vintage copy of the orig mono tape, you know......i mean the record definetly has an analog presence to it. i really need the originals though
