  3. steely dan- gaucho mca japan-for-usa felt mtn is amazing but im always afriad to listen to it cause its a cd made after 1990. is it very compressed? goldfrapp are the only modern band i love.... gaucho is great, but the next cd i talk about next post, is incredible.....
  4. marcello, you didnt have to do that dude. if you wanted to, but man you typed all that out? im sry You haven't read the notes to Unit Structures, have you... i haven't read the notes to unit structures, nor heard unit structures, lol
  5. wait wait wait wait wait wait wait are you saying, maybe.....theres other period bn releases, where the liberty lp stereo mixes differed from the mcmasters, cause CARAMBA....i have the cd and the lp, and, even thoygh the lps analog, i hate it compared w/ the cd....i swear to god theres some weird phasing thing.....if only you could hear it.... I AM LEARNING THAT IN CERTAIN INSTANCES, THE BLUE NOTE 90S CDS....---are not always inferior to the lp related counterpart---. the carambas even vangelder stamped and stuff, but i swear to god. something is off with this cut...
  6. hi whats this record like you guys, i was thinking about getting it- and what are robin kenyatta and guseppi logan like. any recs. or thouyghts on this lp will be considered, thanks!
  7. oh god! herbie must of been furious! a rare slip up from alfred, lol
  8. 1st of all, before the notes start, theres a little tiny musical related note in italics, before which then there is aheader stating the album title in caps, and then it delves into some kind of fantasyland poetry, it is the weirdest bluenote album liners ever-- nora kelly? omg
  9. on cd-rs, this can be an issue- on manufactured regular cds...who cares? scratches dont do anything. i just scored one of my all time holy grail cds finds- pink floyd the wall japan-for-uk blackface harvest, disc 1 i would grade F--. it is scratched up beyond belief. you know how jsngry said that joe brazil tape was by far the worst sounding recording hes ever heard, well immagine that, but on a surface of a cd. plays perfectly. i also have a bowie lets dance made in japan cp-35 thats a little less scratched than that but still pretty bad looking, also plays perfectly
  10. did that 85th bday concert at carnegie hall happen?
  11. dude this album is sick, they mix the string ensemble (played by ROGER POWELL!?!?) real up this album is fantastic. dude, this is the missing link betwen Thelonius Monk- UNDERGROUND and Todd Rundgren's UTOPIA
  12. funny you say that jsngry, when i got it it had a 3 dollar pricetag, over a vintage tag that said 3 for 1.00, and under that there was another old tag (thats still on it) that says $1.69 or 2/$3.00 RIP Jill Clayburgh
  13. just unsealed a sealed lp album: cinnamon flower- charlie rouse band. according to the back cover its brazillian w/ r&b rhythms too, yea, thats a politie way of putting it, i guess, its draight up jazz-disco fusion, its out of this plannet, on CASABALANCA records (?!) of all labels...from columbia to casabalanca, lol-- no seriously, this album is amazing-
  14. michael cuscana: get this tape released!!!
  15. dude you guys are rough, xdr isnt exactly crappy, some of those are pretty good sounding casstettes, my xdr dark side of the moon capitol had really great dynamic range, for a cassette---
  16. wait what, the flip liberty lp is a completely different mix than the conn cd issue, the conn cd issue is more like a flat transfer and the other is processed in reverb by RVG, what?
  17. whos Dottie Dudley? i think she trumps even Babyface at being blue notes largest mystery of an organ player!!
  18. Leon Eason (tp, vo) Dottie Dudley (org) John Simmons (b) Ronnie Cole (d) Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, NJ, May 17, 1959tk.1 I'm In The Mood For Love tk.31 Lazy River hi does anyone know what these are and if they were released on lp at all? wow.....
  19. it sounds fine, red vinyl doesnt really affect the sound, the edit is good: better than other bluenote45 edits ive encountered (eg. sidewinder)...its side a: head/joe solo, side b: kd solo + outro.... dude, that woud be seriously, the coolest thing ever.
  20. got one in the mail today, i have to say- it really is an anomaly. it really really is. im here to confirm w/ you guys it IS red wax, and it is 'van gelder' stamped, both sides. it really is quite the conversation piece
  21. this is strange! is this the only time in blue note 1500 series history this happened? i mean its not quite 'bitches brew' level, but wow. so is the mosaic set, is that same one as on the "40 years of blue note" set? so they say this original disc was only pressed in quanity of 500 copies. how do we know that? sources? i have an original of this on the way. i bought one, for 150 dollars. mine has no cover, and is scratched up. pending shipping, its gonna be awesome....
