  4. cause i guess i feel the goal of the post should be Music- Artists related, in this case, awesome 1st pressing mobley for chewy. the vinyl forum ive found more for like, "top 5,000 sexiest record covers", and "record covers that should never have been created beacuse they are not for this earth" threads, et al
  5. i woudnt mind as much an older lp in a newer jacket
  6. O.M.G. i started to FREAK when i saw it, cause the cover was weighted like an original, was aged stained like an origianal, everything about the cover said ORIGINAL. but the lp was a toshiba japan. i was SOooooooooooooooooooo dissapointed.
  7. would you say, this is gernerally a low-fi recording. i know its a ''''reissue''''' and i mean that in the loosest sense of the term, but anyways im listenin to my mint copy of it, and it still sounds pretty lowfi. heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, the back cover, clearly says: remastering by rudy van gelder...hmm..............i know he didnt record these...but i wonder how he transfered the tapes
  8. yea, but u always see count basie ones...not the gerald wilson!!
  9. label = 'sounds of swing'
  10. LOVE LIVE MOODY, WE ALL KEEP HIM ALIVE

  12. WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE COOLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN ON THE INTERNET. BORIS IS VERY WELL SPOKEN, I LIKE THE WAY HE SPEAKS. AND THE BIRDLAND BOOK! NEVER HEARD OF ABOUT THAT BEFORE! OMFG! IT IS THE GUIDE TO THE COLLECTION OF BORIS. I WONDER IF DAN MORGENSTERN CAN HELP US GET A COPY. IM SURE BORIS'S 70S LPS ONLY REPRESENT A SMALL SMALL FRACTION OF WHAT HE RECORDED! OMG ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. jsngry: oh yea i forgot about the art farmer, i have a 45 of that, i believe white label promo, cant rememer.... other guy: omg i have to hear the joe sample version jsngry again: oh yeah, bud shank meets the R.S....forgt abt that too!
  14. omg. right now i have on Ray Charles Orchestra version, i also heard (and passed up...) a woody herman version, with a white mail vocal chorus vocalizing "the SIDE-wind-ER"...youd have to be there. the ray version was 'ok'...... there is many more i know... strongly prefer the b-side to the ray single, 'booty butt'
  15. at the very very start of this track, is there a vocal-like, as in speaking sound, faintly heard. also once in the middle of the track. seriously- im listening on an early 70s 'blue' label pressing, vangelder stamped
  16. i believe "KIMBERLY" records...no!!! Period. Yes. PERIOD RECORDS.
  17. if you are like me and keep only can finding the same 20-25 bean 1940s 78s over and over again, let me tell you: get the proper box, preferably for use in your car, cause youll be more distracted that your listening to a digital mastering of the this stuff, because youll also be focusing on the road. this i find is the best way to listen to this type of cd-transfer: in the car. that being said, the linernotes in the proper box: A+. you will get complete discographical info, in a bound little printed book
  18. according to these articles in billboard im readin there is this every 4 wk. report which breaks down record sales by region and has all this data on the best sellin labels, et al, but its top secret and only avail to subscribers....articles in the billboard mag only talk abt the report in broad sketches and articles keep ending....subscirbers get the report, well where is the report? are any on the internet? how top secret is it.....today?
  19. -wow-, it actually sounds -fantastic-. this is the early japan VJD series
  20. exactly what i was gettin at john s.: if they made a bn studiodate like the jazz625 date, think how killer it would be. what so you were at jazz 625? or saw them at a club. do u recall what they played, beyond whats on the tv show
  21. i was watching the lee morgan/john gilmore/john hicks/victor sproles/blakey band on that uk tv program, and i was thinking my god. if only blakey was still w/ blue note, this band would of made a KILLER record together. just like the video. instead they went over to limelight ....and some mediocre sessions that produced some stuff for compilations, think. THINK: if there had been a blue note lp w/ that jazz 625 lineup....
  22. heyyyy chewy here, i too....CHEWY....recently only "got" base on balls too!!!! its true its true, i admit. now that i have Blue Note 45 rpm 1684, I know whats up. youre right: mr. dw gets a spotlite on this one... ps: i would know more whats up if i could get the lp. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
