  1. yyyeeeeeaaaa..................................like it is trying to be a crappy BN DAT mastered reissue, but its NOT a crappy BN DAT mastered reissue.....i think we may be riding down the same gravy boat on this one, have you noticed it solely on your promos, or is there any rhyme and reason to the sceme of catalogue nos. you see it on? this is my only one thus for, i believe.........
  2. um, im not sure mono is getting my jollies off the same way for this late 60s BN lp as it does for say a late 60s rock lp mix.....i mean, i know i generally perfer mono, but i guess im SO used to the spacial element of the 60s Bluenotes, i dont know what im trying to say- oh wait heres hank now, this is going to be good no matter what
  3. ok the colour printing on the BN labels is strange, its not like other period ones i dont think but i am certain its not a forgery, i mean the catalog #'s are correct, but its weird thats all there is in the deadwax, the catalog #'s with the begining "8" off the stereo # removed-- cause i guess, this particualar lp was only mono for the promos, is that correct? its mint and nice. i must of not hear this one in a real long while, have seen it lately as a reissue lp in the stores for 9.99-- maybe the kids'll pick them up. mine i just got though, oh man. doesnt necessarily replace the cd as far as mix is concerned, but yea its gonna be sweet- its a regular stereo cover w/ one of those little mono audition stickers pasted over it (kind of at an angle, kind of sloppily put on if u ask me)
  4. basically chewy'll break it down like-a-this: early D/A converters in cd players sucked. they were NOISY. so the P.E. was to compenstate for that. well heres the thing, the D/A convereters got better REAL QUICKLY, but PE stuck around. i dont know the rhyme and reason to who used it and why but it did stick around much longer than necessessary. also never firgured out why they dont mark it on the cds cases or cds themselves, they should of. my late 80s sony does not decode PE. people told me it should, it does not. the 2 cds i know for sure have PE that i have are the w. german vertigo Genesis s/t and my w. german Jethro Tull Under Wraps. all you do is lower the EQ down to taste and its fine--
  5. ive seen his a dozen times but never before i dont think with a regular working quartet of this nature--well heres my review of the concert, they played PASSIN' THRU!!!!!the bass started it off and at first i didnt even reckgnzozie it but then all of a sudden i hear the drums and i was still WTF and then charles lloyd came in on sax and i was OFGOMGOGMGOMGOMGOMMGOGMG!!!! never in a thousand years did i expect or think charles lloyd was going to dip that far back and pull out my all time favorite. maybe it was cause he has his new cohesive trio. charles also gave a 10 min. introduction to the show where he told a real trippy story about many things and touched on many points including how master higgins send eric harland to him to be his drummer from the beyond and all this stuff. it was a trip. passin thru was amazing- i could not believe what i was hearing. never in a thousand years did i expect him to play a song from the chico years. oh my god, i was so happy passin through also was used as a feature for the drums, which was very good

  7. saw a REX item in person i think for the 1st time ever, it was only 8.99 and i didnt buy it. im losing my touch--- well anyways it had a japanese chick on the cover and it was by the 'gilbert & sullivan jazz quintet' and members included if i remember milt bernhart on trombone and i didnt recokonize anyone else. it was a strage record. it was on ANDEX, a division of Rex Productions, Los Angeles magnificnt goldberg: i had no idea island, or rather blackwells record company dealings dated back so far into the early 60s
