  7. WOW youll never believe what i found (for 10 bucks)- i never knew this existed......this 2-lp riverside set, its coleman hawkins talking about back in the day and fletcher henderson and all kinds of important stuff, it says liner notes by orrin keepnews- he was the producer though, was he just slapping his name on it or did someone else do all the actual musical content work for the album and keepknews just took the credit, i dont know- but antyways i cant wait to listen to this one, its bean telling it how it is- i wonder if he has his saxophone and plays saxophone-examples of what hes talking about, oh my god that would be so phat!!!
  8. im listening to a shiny 1st press Down Here on the Ground, and im thinking, "this is a new and exciting way of making jazz records"-- i wish hank made an album like this. stanley turrentine did it and i think some might say overdid it cause he has a zillion albums but right now im grooving to it--
  9. okokok so by now im sure youve all heard how i found "how low can you go"-Roz Croney the queen of the limbo on audio fidelity. ok i dont think theres such thing as limbo music, i dont know, but to me it sounds like calpyso or something,-- sun plays piano, "tack piano", and organ. gilmore does two solos on SOPORANO SAX! bass is ronnie boykins and pat patrick is on flute, the drummer too
  10. what condition were the tapes in when you got them? could you tell they have been played many times before? what did the boxes look like? was their a lot of writing on them? did you really see the hootin n tootin master tape? what did that look like? what about any mobley tapes? what was the status on those? did you take any pics of this stuff? how did blue note get the material to you? surely you just didnt get it fed-ex'd with insurance, etc--- surely it had to be something hand delivered, correct?
  11. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8tRUd669B4I/Seunwrr3mFI/AAAAAAAAA0s/HY6sdFt6pAo/s320/Croney+cover+(small).jpg 4 bucks incl. organ and piano solos from sun ra, + bs clairnet, & SOPRANO SAX solos from gilmore, ronnie boykins on bass---

  14. its intereting how some of these issues use the rvg stampers-- so these are the old rvg stampers used over after all the original//liberty pressings? is that it? the maiden voyage does not have em...but a lot of them do.......those are the ones i usually try n get if the price is right....
  15. i did like it, dave was definetly the most deserving one of all of em
  16. this particular one, unlike some, is not VANGELDER stampers--- how is the quality of this disc. you know, navy blue label with big chunky lowercase "b".... got a "let freedom ring" in this issue recently WITH vangelder stampers-- its pretty fantastic...
