  1. oh my god, i have been listening to "Bee Gee's 1st" (Jul. 1967) for the last week: this album is perfect. when i want to play one of my favorite cuts, i cant turn it off, no matter where in the cd (or record,) i am, i have to keep listening. i cant say that for too many psychedelic albums of the 60s. now i know youre saying haha whatever but it is a psychedlic album and i dont just mean the cover, its just soooooooooo much more melodic than the other stuff, some people might consider it pop. but no way. i cant listen to sgt peppers all the way thru the way i can listen to this one all the way thru- sgt peppers came out in june and this one came out a few wks later in july. oh, and atco was a subsiderary of atlantic and atlatic recorded ornette coleman whose drummer was billy higgins, who once played with pat metheny, who recorded for ECM. there, now everybodys included
  2. ok i passed on it till i hear your or other qualified posts about it.... i just wasnt convinced, i mean, what tape anyway did pathe marconi have to work with in 1983 anyway? i just didnt know.... the vinyl was clean though, nice repro cover, funky type of nice matte cardboard though i have a pathe marconi rajah i believe from 86, which is good, but i just wasnt sure--- right now i have the JRVG cd should i hold out for the original? i can put it with my original behind the 8 ball
  3. that is some sick don byas-- makes me wonder if anyone recorded HANK when he was in europe.....
  4. i like how 90% of the covers are on prestige!
  5. awesome u dont dig kind of blue either? awesome! instead of kind of blue im going to listen to the happy blues (gene ammons)
  6. AHGRH! i am sick of digital blue note-- i love so much digital music but blue note, im telling you its *NOT* working....i need to find an original of Extension

  8. i would also like to know if anyone has A/B'd a 1st pressing to this series of 45 rpm reissues....
  9. have anyone picked up the caddy reissue or any of the like? is it worth it to get them if you dont have a 4000 dollar audiophile lp setup? are the truly better than the 1st pressings?
  10. i remember you, good to see you back!
  11. im still included to wanna get an original, pops and clicks included. 1st press soul station is 1st press soul station, although the xrcd does intrigue me

  16. i was saying earlier today how this is a shock, and i hope its not cocaine related, but its probably cocaine related-- then this chick was telling me she heard, how her husband, was in the ER about a week ago, with a similar condtion--- they probably got a bad batch or something....good god
  17. i invented another new name for xrcds: "TARGETS OF THE 21st CENTURY"!!
  18. ive heard he was a huge player-- i dont know if it was in his personal life only and he only recorded on grand, or if he made albums w/ synths--- do you know? id be interested in exploring this--- i just saw an old roland synth ad with him in it too.........
  19. lon-o: tdoay i checked out these two BILL HOLMAN xrcds- sessions from the 1990s (had bill perkins and pete christlieb)--- there was an informative section on what an xrcd is. like instead of working from a U-matic EQ limited 1630 copy they work from some optical copy and the whole deal about xrcd is every step in the process of making the cd is montired real carefuly, like voltages to the equipment and etc---- they sounded good but i mean, i couldnt tell much at the store on headphones, i would have to hear something like invisible touch , something that i know backwards and forwords to understand the diff.... instead of xrcd they should just call them, "cds we didnt screw up on"!
  20. thats a great story chuck, that sucks someone jacked it from your room- did u ever get to give him the beat-down?
  21. so wait wait are these still redbook cds technically. or is XRCD just a marketing term. or is it truly a format? i have redbook cds that pull the maxium out of the format, but are just, case in point: Fleetwood Mac Tango in the night-- so i dont know whats up w/ these xrcds still
  22. Teddy Edwards teddys ready! with joe castro leroy vinnagar master higgins
  23. chuck thats interesting you only discovered buddy on "little band, big jazz" (crown records, 1960)- didnt u get the chico lps and stuff like that in the 50s?
  24. i have never bought an XRCD or any non redbook cd--- so they will play on my 1988 sony cd deck? seriously? even if its not redbook? since an original soul stn vinyl is still a ways off for me i suspect-- id be interested in this to tide me over--- wait wait so XRCDs are BETTER than redbooks but WORSE than HDCD? or ?
