chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez posted a topic in Artists
just got this, the last known recorded example of mobley: oh god...i HOPE NOT...i would love to be proven wrong on that: Hank Mobley live in 1983 shows up one day, and id LOVE to tell you it isnt, but for all intensive purposes this is Hank of the eighties....there a bonus cd cut from the album sessions or around of, i guess, one track autumn leaves, Guest: Hank Mobley. you organsimos have sterred me off a cliff: "Ohhhhhh its hank in his twilight the shadow of a man that once used to be......ohhhhhhhhhhhh"................lemme set the record straight: i just heard it, and hank is KILLIN' IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hanks tone, his hank sound, on this sounds fantastic- hank just kills it, he plays a rippin solo curse tete for not lettin hank blow on every cut -

i mean, ive seen threads shut down beacuse it involved talk about raided/illegiallly copied material from Capitol and SH has interests in capitol so they shut the thread down, but i mean i seriously do not think the boards purpose is to promote SH's interests like someone just mentioned, i mean, yea they make threads about his new releases and stuff but there are THOUSANDS of threads....and the gorts u mentioned i havent seen what you have seen for me, they have only reshuffuled my posts every now and then, very rarely, like if i start a fleetwood mac mastering question about track 4 but theres already a thread about track 3, they might merge them, .....etc --god bless SH forums for teaching me what target-cds are. god bless them. my life is so much for the better thanks to Sh forums. god bless you sh forums. i love target cds so much. i cant believe i had no targets for so long. now i have like 42 of them. oh god how i love targets!!! -

dude u guys are talking some SMAZ-OODLE// what on heaven on earth are you erupting about!?? i have learned so much from the SH brd and they have answered questions about sensitive musical topics ive had for YEARS such as which pressing of Suppers ready is the most awesome, did someone in particular ruffle your feathers, did somone say something you didnt like about Fleetwood Mac? Well the answer to your question is Tango In The Night. Greatest cd mastering after enya -
i eventually will A/B/C the mcmaster/rvg/xrcd's of soul station, but off the bat: i DID hear hank sounded "warmer" i guess, i dont know how to conceptualize it my ears arent good like that. but maybe once i a/b them ill be able to appriciate the differences more. what i **REALLY** wanna do is A/B the xrcd to a SACD!! one thing i definetly could tell, is the soul station xrcd, didnt sounds like a 1st pressing vinyl copy. i definetly was aware i was not listening to that
-
i wish i knew what SACD was like. until i can experiecne that, i guess well i justy got this new alan yoshida mastered soul station xrcd which is just like "redbook not mastered by idiots"- what do you guys think of this vursus the mcmaster 1988 job, or perhaps the rvg (but we know the answer to THAT....)

from that Baltimore club, the famous door, or i dont remember but its that series we always are talking about, you know, with all the tapes? well i saw this new looking cd today w/ definetly a new cover art (some hot chick on a couch) and the bonus cuts were from 1971 w/ the same rhythm section (walton/simpkins/higgins) + cliff jordan on the bonus-- wanted to see if you guys are aware of this one//

arnett is KILLIN IT in that photo! thank u so much for posting that! -
ok ok, so i saw wks ago a lp i wasnt at all familar w/ Arnett Cobb- Smooth Sailing-- clean but definetly scuffed Prestige 1st pressing, they wanted 49 freaking 99. got for 8 bucks on ebay, the 2nd press or so i guess, a late 60s issue with the dark blue "trident" logo-prestige labels, and a STATUS backing, even though the front cover still says prestige. RVG stampers on both sides, so its the orig stampers i guess, sounds REALLY good right now-- i mean, its bassically the 1st press. i dont care. if i had both side by side...i dunno, maybe one was tube gear and one was solid state, whatever i donbt know
