  1. go to the fridge, like this vintage Philco and grab that bottle of Champagne you've been saving (NOT THE DISCLOSURE CHAMPAGNE) and raise a toast, for the most welcome discovery, many thanks to my dawg who graciously alerted me this morning that this thread was active: really active!! First off: who of you knew this film. was it a limited 1968 release, only to be recently re-released on dvd? Was it right in front of us the entire time? They got Cuscana to double check it, was that more ceremonial- that's no other human but Henry "Hank" Mobley son of Otis Mobley. go to the fridge, like this vintage Philco and grab that bottle of Champagne you've been saving (NOT THE DISCLOSURE CHAMPAGNE) and raise a toast, for the most welcome discovery, many thanks to my dawg who graciously alerted me this morning that this thread was active: really active!! 11. This guy was a freaking genius, lets not forget that. The fact that he got so good at such a young age. it was like he had a window to something magical, the same thing bird had. That wasn't ten years of practicing. Maybe Sonny Rollins and Trane were big into that but i dont think Hanks playing at 25 was due to ten years of practice. sure he practiced. but i mean he had something special dawg
  12. Youre welcome my guy, the Charlie Parker tone and style just isnt there when I hear it, esp for something from '47- peak bird.
  13. As a hard bop fan I originally really loved Open House/Plain Talk sessions but that jam is baby diapers compared to the Sermon/Houseparty things- That is at the top
  14. the steve hoffman mastered collections on DCC compact classics not expensive like hotel california dcc. cheap like any regular not rare cd. Downey records its called it guess, the surf label
  15. i say no way it sounds at all like Bird, although it is bebop music of some sort. And yea the city/timeframe seems off. This is absolutely bebop though and something interesting.
  16. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jazz-Acetate-12-Benny-Goodman-Steve-Allen-Show-July-7-1957-NBC-mp3/383520521442?hash=item594b9abce2:g:4mUAAOSw6Wlepa0D This gives us hope that there could be one of the elusive Monk b'cast, or maybe even a soundboard of the Art Blakey b'cast out there--
  17. Well you know my guy there might of been a part II this was definetly at LACMA and you know how I remember the date, it was the same day as the Snoop Dogg concert which was at height of his popularity but then I went to the 7-11 to check the LA Times arts calendar and the weekend priorities changed to trip to LA. You said Cedar Walton right, well that should of piqued my interest cause on my date it was Harold Mabern----- George Coleman, Harold Mabern, Billy Higgins, (bass player oh god was it Alex Blake, Tony Dumas, Roberto Miranda? I do not recall). The last time I saw Billy, the only time I saw George Coleman, and didn't see Mabern again for 15 years. Also saw Ernie Andrews there who was just hanging out
  18. I was there!! are you sure it wasnt June 15, 2000 though- pretty sure thats the date. At LACMA
  19. glad you made it, always a top engagement w/ him- hey, I just DL'd this show, I was wondering if this is one of your productions, if you put this show on- I thought maybe you'd have a great recollection of it for the board but i dont know. it looks good- Keith Jarrett Piano Solo Ann Arbor, MI, USA, 23.October 1976 Speed Fixed 1. Part 1 (39:24) 2. Part 2 (34:42) TT 74:06 Keith Jarrett - piano radio broadcast > ? > CDR

  21. i kept it on for a lot time hell i had a art farmer paramount from like the 50s in wrap- but you know what, when you par down you par down and that includes shrinkwrap- someone else probably already covered this but you keep it in the shrink if it has for example a promotional sticker i had a art blakey freedom rider what i believe is a liberty but with NY usa labels both sides and vangelder stamped in shrink, looks way better off I EVEN REMOVE THE OLD DRIED PLASTIC ON SOME SHINY COVERS- like i had a silvers serenade and the cover is all lookin bad-- after you peel the horrible plastic layer off- great cover- wow ultimate example of this::: dave brubeck octet 12" on fantasy: horrible cover- looks 100 years old: after a peel of the other layer: 100% mint white cover in astonishing mint condition underneath
