OBVISOULY ROOSTER TIES UJUST DONT GET IT. thats ok. u can still live a decent, good life and enjoy jazz. but Donald Byrd is easily one of the top FIVE most impotant jazz musicans of the latter half of Century 20, or the 20th Century. people always priase miles for changing so much in jazz and stuff but miles was a lost cause he didnt know what he realy wanted: changing up his shit so much and so often. but DB excelled in the idium of hard bop from the early 50s through the late 60s. DB is cool cause not only did he excel at this hard bop, but he embraced the '70s and started wearin leisure suits n shit, and made some of the best funk records ever. the late period blue notes espically, Places n Spaces I've Been and Steppin into Tmw, were each at least 5 yrs ahead of their times. DB WAS DOING FUNK IN 1974 THE LIKES OF WHICH WOULD NOT BEEN SEEN AGAIN IN FUNK MUSIC TILL ROUGHLY AT LEAST SEVEN YRS. LATER, EG. 1981. but thats completely besides the point. remember when i called lou donaldson. well i want to talk to DB more than any jazz musican alive. he is the supreme embodiment of great black culture and all the great things about jazz. I spit upon the NEA awards and the Nobel Peace Prize committie until they both recocknoize DB on the Nat'l and then Int'l levels -
what do u mean they wont let me listen to it? im going there and im gonna listen to lighthouse-all-stars bootlegs till i pass out

http://lajazzinstitute.org/index.php?c=4#tbac THE BOB ANDREWS COLLECTION The Bob Andrews Collection consists of a number of open reel tapes which document the Los Angeles Jazz Scene of the 1950s. Andrews took his portable tape recorder to venues such as The Lighthouse, The Trade Winds and The Haig beginning as early as 1951 and captured numerous live performances featuring Art Pepper, Shorty Rogers, The Lighthouse All-Stars, Maynard Ferguson, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Jack Montrose, Hampton Hawes . . . Another highlight of the Andrews collection is several hours of audio from jazz performances on television including the Steve Allen Tonight Show, Stars of Jazz and various L.A. local broadcasts. WHERE IN THE HOLY HELL IS THIS WEST COAST JAZZ MUSEUM ANYWAY, I WANT TO VISIT IT!

Donald Byrd is the most accomplished artist ever to record for blue note and should be given the Nobel prize, for excelling in hard bop, and funk -
i got this badfinger bootleg live in vancouver 2 mos. before pete ham hanged himself, and on the sides, the catalog # u can read but then, on the individual lp, they SCRATCHED OUT some other manuf. info that was i guess on the 'stamper', exactly same loc. on the lp, it liked like, u know how on blue notes, it says VAN GELDER, n such? yeah, well they scracted it out, 2 places on side 1 and 2 on side 2
