i was just listening 2 this bird/diz/bud/tommy/roy WJZ last night AM broadcast i got on SAGA (uk) lp and it is really good, the 1st side is Blue n Boogie/Round Midnight-- anyways during the breaks between songs symphony sid would announce the song. is this the standard practice for radio b'casts, they would announce each tune? well durring symp. sids talking, underneath u could hear bud doin all this crazy ass solo piano interluding n stuff, like a giant intro into the next tune-- it was rad. are there many recorded instances of things such as that? do you guys know what im talking about? i dont know if i like this symphony sid guy, i cant tell if he truly likes the bird or not. but it was interesting than even in 1951 the whole original scene was already totally over and symp. sid annouced Anthropolgy with an intro talkin about how it all used to be in 1945. and then symp sid is all: "i was just sitting @ the bar w/ Terry Gibbs and he was sayin about how never again we will see all these guys on stage like this makin this music". i swear to god that is verbatim what he says check the c.p. disco. database if u dont believe me

on THE BEST OF DONALD BYRD cd, there is a live version of (falling like) dominos. My question is: did blue note record a whole live set of DB and if so was it ever released- what a rare groove cd THAT would make! the reason i bring it up is cause i have seen that track on the best of but never any other album-- does anyone have the info to this, perhaps thru consulting the bn discography book? i dunno- ok thank u!

wait wait wait wait WHAT the hell happened? why was the family there in the 1st place? did they run out of gas or something? believe me i know that is a sketchy-ass place to get lost or in trouble. once my car ran off the off ramp on exit #1 (a service exit w/ no facilities) and i thought i was gonna die out there. Another time i met a really hot redhead at the Ashland denny's at 3 am. that was out of control too! -

well just splurged and also got this 3-31-51 b'cast w/ diz/bud/tommy/roy-- that one is one SAGA- and it was 10 big ones. yes indeedy at 1st i bought the quartet boots 1st but i was wrong i should of given equal consideration to bird+orch-- indeed it is VERY VERY amazing. i dont know what i was thinking at the time. i guess its my natural bias against the woody herman orch. which i have had forever. but that aside it is very good- not to mention a young bill perkins in the tenor section! now i am going to listen to it, and i think im gonna get drunk, then go to safeway at 1 am and talk with this cashier i really like there. she is probably in her 40s but she is very very pretty
