  2. Hi friends: chewy-chew-chew here: i have never been to your zone before but i heard there is a singular 'euro-rail' pass u can buy and you can go to many different places: well could i use that to go to the following cities, and also i want to know, is it easy to travel to these places, city by city, on the rail system. also these are all relatively safe cities in case i dont have place to stay and i have to wonder around all night for a few weeks, ok: 11 June - Helsinki, Finland Olympic Stadium 14 June - Herning, Denmark Messecenter 15 June - Hamburg, Germany AOL Arena 17 June - Berne, Switzerland Stade de Suisse 18 June - Linz, Austria Gugglestadium 20 June - Budapest, Hungary Puskas Ferenc Stadion 21 June - Katowice, Poland Slaski Stadium 23 June - Hannover, Germany AWD Arena 26 June - Dusseldorf, Germany LTU Arena 29 June - Stuttgart, Germany Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadium 30 June - Paris, France Parc Des Princes 1 July - Amsterdam, Holland Arena 3 July - Berlin, Germany Olympiastadion 4 July - Leipzig, Germany Zentralstadion 5 July - Frankfurt, Germany Commerzbank Arena 7 July - London, UK Twickenham Stadium 8 July - Manchester, UK Old Trafford Football Stadium 10 July - Munich, Germany Olympiastadion 12 July - Monaco, Louis II Stadium 14 July - Rome, Italy Telecomcerto at Colosseo
  3. someone who used to gig w/ his big band in the 40s told me that Woody Herman was the lowest, most disreputable, horrible excuse for a person and the meanest son-of-a-bitch youve ever encountered
  4. yea, its called: "Charlie Parker with Strings" THE END
  5. in all the hullaballoo over the monk fiasco i forgot the following item from my Hank info. page- ART BLAKEY AND THE JAZZ MESSENGERS: The Tonight Show; 3/6/56 Donald Byrd (trumpet) Hank Mobley (tenor sax) Horace Silver (piano) Doug Watkins (bass) Art Blakey (drums) 1. Doodlin' 2. Avila And Tequila ------------------------------------------------------------------- -do you think NBC or CBS or whomever still possesses the kinescope or i guess possibly but not likely early 1 or 1.5 in" VTR tape, but whatever the inquiry is how many of you jazz experts have heard of this "listing" before. --now i know most of you are sittin there, strokin' your beards sayin, oh here goes chewy on another one of his liberal far-fetched jazz soapboxes, but let me tell you, i know what the hell i'm talkin about. DB n Hank blowin' 'avila and tequlia'. --if you guys really wanna strut your feathers, lets try to learn about the aformentioned item. it is just sitting there rotting on some shelf, prob. not even in an air-tempratured controlled vault, and here we all are just sitting here.
  6. im not in college anymore man im done w/ that!
  7. dont u think i know that- i can hardly download this here website let alone dime-a-dozen-
  8. If hank is disrespected like this one more time in the public eye like this i swear to god and cybill shepherd's eyelash curler that i am going to put up my own money and issue "Reach Up Over 'N Out": Hank Mobley Quartet live at Montmare Club, 1968 (Chew-Chew 001). You just wait and see
  9. oh and will you PLEASE drop it with the "its traded among collectors" line by now- you guys hide under that ruse every time u wanna talk about one of your bootlegs. traded among collectors--- ppfffsssst. bootlegs are your friend, and i dont mean youre secret, special friend you dont tell no one about
  10. ps- kudos to duke city 4 postin that: both u and Jashrgy now have full permission to brag about any ecm release you want to
  11. i give up. this is a big joke. this cd should be pulled from the market for misappropriating the name of hank. hank did play altissmo lines now and again, but not before 1968. maybe i should ammened the bootleg section to my hank discography, (yes mine is better than yours it has an extensive bootleg section), and take the item out? do you think i should? to quote phil collins, "its all been a pack of lies". maybe the wires have been cross the whole time and no one had the hank to begin with. but the GIG IS for real: 1 week b4 art farmer kicked the bucket i talked to him and he said it definetly ***DID*** happen.
  12. why didnt bean machine ever record for blue note. where they nuts? if him and roy eldridge made a record w/ like horace silver and doug watkins or something, it wuold of been great!!!!!!
  13. in the liner notes to my raymond scott cd it quotes art blakey as sayin the reason he switched from piano to drums is one day he had to play these raymond scott charts and it looked like fly shit on paper and they were really hard
  14. in case chewy doesnt see it for a while someone really has to step up- i thought all u guys buy all these new jazz cds that come out- im amazed and shocked no ones has stepped up yet-- anyways ill be on the lookout and snap it up but then no more cds for a while, or there is no way in hell or heaven i can make my schedule: if i miss even one show phil is going to give me a beat-down 11 June - Helsinki, Finland Olympic Stadium 14 June - Herning, Denmark Messecenter 15 June - Hamburg, Germany AOL Arena 17 June - Berne, Switzerland Stade de Suisse 18 June - Linz, Austria Gugglestadium 20 June - Budapest, Hungary Puskas Ferenc Stadion 21 June - Katowice, Poland Slaski Stadium 23 June - Hannover, Germany AWD Arena 26 June - Dusseldorf, Germany LTU Arena 29 June - Stuttgart, Germany Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadium 30 June - Paris, France Parc Des Princes 1 July - Amsterdam, Holland Arena 3 July - Berlin, Germany Olympiastadion 4 July - Leipzig, Germany Zentralstadion 5 July - Frankfurt, Germany Commerzbank Arena 7 July - London, UK Twickenham Stadium 8 July - Manchester, UK Old Trafford Cricket Ground 10 July - Munich, Germany Olympiastadion 12 July - Monaco, Louis II Stadium 14 July - Rome, Italy Telecomcerto at Colosseo

  18. got it for 4 bucks its pretty damn good for 4 bucks
  19. do any of you wild 'n crazy guys know a jazz person, Danny D'Imperio, i am postive thats was his name, anyways, why back when in the mid/late 90s sometime, this guy is THE (or one of the) guys who has the tape in question. Its was rec. right from the TV set and i DONT mean via VTR 1" video tape recording television, hell no, i mean just holding a mic to the TV set. anyways this is the guy we need to find. do any of you know of this guys whereabouts-- he is either a collector or a musican or both. i think a drummer. he wanted something like an arm and a leg and a spleen for it, or something, i dont recall what happened....anyways....
  20. well can 1 of u give us a pos (+) or neg (-) ID on the mobley cuts already? whoever steps up to the challenge will be declared KING OF THE BULLITIN BOARD and will be given full autonomy to listen to any ECM record and post about it without reciveing ANY flames from chewy
