Congrats Jim! Time will start flying faster now.

SS1, I hope you didn't put a lot of money on those picks. Crazy Sunday huh? The Broncos looked pretty good against the Bungles but Plummer lived up to his Arizona reputation as The Interception King. Denver fans are happy with the win but nervous as hell about Plummer.

Vocalists don't seem get a lot of attention here but this album is exceptionally good. Peter Martin - piano, Reuben Rodgers - Bass, Greg Hutchinson - drums. Special guests: Romero Lubambo and Nicholas Payton on one track. On Blue Note. Loads of Love, I Concentrate On You, Reflections, Skylark, What A Little Moonlight Can Do, Darn That Dream, I'm All Smiles, Lullaby of Broadway, You Go To My Head, We'll Be Together Again. After winning consecutive grammies for best female jazz vocalist for In The Moment - Live and the perhaps overly produced The Calling: Celebrating Sarah Vaughan she is rock solid and completely at ease with her terrific small band. Peter Martin is very tastey and Rodgers and Hutchinson are about as good as it gets. She effortlessly demonstrates her superiority as a jazz singer with impeccable pitch and experienced story telling ability. And finally, her song selection is consistent and fine. Listen to A Little Moonlight and you might come away thinking that everyone else is just trying to sing jazz. Dianne Reeves is at the top of the heap. Highly recommended.

Help needed in treatment options for my Mom
RonF replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Beri, I too am sorry to hear about your Mom's terrible luck. My wife's parents both dealt with cancer and insisted on being treated at MD Anderson in Houston. It has a wonderful reputation. Best to your Mom. -
What an absolute kick this thread is. If these gems were in a book, I'd buy it! Priceless.

Marathon Elvis song record broken Thursday, August 21, 2003 Posted: 10:41 AM EDT (1441 GMT) OSLO, Norway (Reuters) -- A Norwegian Elvis impersonator set a record Wednesday by singing the King's hits non-stop for a voice-wrecking 26 hours, four minutes and 40 seconds. "This is just fantastic, I can't find words for it," a hoarse Kjell Henning Bjoernestad, 35, told NRK radio after his marathon. Fans in the bar where he performed cheered and handed him red roses. Dubbed "Kjell Elvis," Bjoernestad had aimed to sing 100 of Elvis' songs, ranging from "Hound Dog" to "Jailhouse Rock" over and over again for 30 hours to win a place in the Guinness Book of Records. But the performer, who once won an award as the Nordic region's best Elvis look-alike, gave up shortly after beating the previous record of 25 hours, 33 minutes and 30 seconds, set by Briton Gary Jay.

Hey, isn't that Gary Busey's hot trio?

Very nice Noj. I remember reading where you studied art. It certainly shows!

No, and Yes. I think the majority of the posters are civil, however this may not be true with the majority of the posts. When you start seeing things like fat fuck, idiot, etc.etc.etc., it is unfortunate, but often these comments are retracted. (I said often, not always) I just hate to see a development of new rules here, and would rather everyone make an effort to improve civility on their own. I agree with catesta. Some of you guys are sounding like the board is practically dead because of political sparring. That's just not the case. Summer is traditionally a slow time for posting. It is for me anyway. As for the bad thread in question, I haven't even looked at it. Not once. The title told me to stay away. Easy. I'm with everyone else as far as the aljerkson, fat fuck, idiot stuff is concerned. My god, it's so adolescent. But catesta's right, much better for those involved to make the changes on their own. And I, too, believe that it's completely realistic. A thread like this might open some eyes. But please, no new board rules for the sake of a few. It makes no sense.

RT, With all due respect, I think you're forgetting about the majority of posters who see political rhetoric, simply ignore it and move on. Clearly the majority do that. Don't you think? Most people don't get caught up in it. They could give a shit.

My co-workers and I thought Cakewalk! Stumbled reversing Fosters and Bud Light. Duh.

Thanks Jim! We should be so lucky to have someone who gives a damn! You've built a fine site, sir. B)

Is it likely that this will continue to happen? And does it do any good or help anyone to mention it here?

From my recording studio days, Airto's instrument crates had three rather large illustrations stenciled on the sides: an eye, an ear and a toe.

Chuck, Talking to people behind the festival and a limited encounter with Larry, he is most definitely "a nice guy". Uncommonly so. Ron, I need to check out Larry's work with Jim. I wasn't even aware of their collaberations.

In college, we played the grooves off of Herbie Mann's Memphis Underground with Larry Coryell....late 60s. Just caught him in Telluride with a trio...local bassist and at the moment I'm memory lapsing on the drummer (excellent). He played Burton's Good Citizen Swallow from Lofty Fake Anagram ('67) and three or four from his last three releases on HighNote. One beautiful solo Lennon and McCartney piece. If his set wasn't the highlight of the festival, it was damn close. Coryell lives.

ditto here.

Nice to see you in The Land O' Smiles, old buddy! Nothing but smiling faces and happy posts everywhere you go around here. Optimism and good wishes abound.

Still the 31st, about 11:00PM MDT. It took me about 10 minutes to get to "post reply" with several connection failures along the way. All other sites are working fine. Now, if it will just send.
