Just one of those days to get groovin...

I listened to this, twice a year, for many years. I still have the CD. It is the first and only disc I have thrown across a room. It made me angry. I'm not a musician so I can't/won't comment on the musicianship. I guess it's just me but I find it to be completely devoid of emotion. Maybe that was the point of it? I tried and really wanted to like it but I just find it irritating. For me, Holman and Russo charts all day long. This? Not so much.

Well, it's the last two weeks of June... has anyone started getting their sets yet?

One of my favs and not on anyone's list... Generally different than any other Don Ellis album... and a simply great cover, to boot!

I'll bet this one is on time. They've been trying for years to release this set.

Dianne Schuur with the Count Basie Big Band... absolutely great sounding CD.

I have all four of the Mosaic blues boxes. In fact, I was listening to the T-Bone Walker set yesterday. Great stuff!

The sample cuts are now on the Mosaic website. They are FUNtastic.

Preordered. Can't wait.

Got the box down and listening to disc 1... plan to listen to all discs (eventually).

Almost forgot, listened to this one this morning as well...

Please don't knock the CTI albums too much... they were important to me in the first years (early teen) of my developing ears. Freddie's First Light and Sky Dive come to mind. Also, Randy Weston's Blue Moses. Giant Box was eye opening. Sure, I've grown a bit since then (hand me my Mingus, please) but the time and place they came into being were my formative years. Because of them, I found out about Freddie's Blue Notes and all of the wonderful music that Weston did before and after CTI and many, many others. They were a starting point, a seed if you will that led me to many years of happiness. Do I still listen to them? Rarely. But to me, they remind me of my youth and enthusiasm of being different than my peers.

I have the Coltrane and Rollins posters. They are framed and above my computer desk. When I lived in Utah (long ago) a friend of mine thought they were Thurl Bailey of the Utah Jazz. I still chuckle about that...

Bobby Bryant - Swahili Strut has never made it to CD. The two larger ensemble pieces are very good and Bryant's playing is extraordinary...

Hello All - Any recent word on this box set? Maybe in 2022?

The only Mosaic box I bought in a store. All of the rest from Mosaic or private collectors. Not sure why it was there way back when. Mr. Cole can certainly play!
