  1. Wow, was not aware of this. Thanks!
  2. Featuring Paul Kimble of Grant Lee Buffalo.
  3. NYT write-up: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/05/arts/music/julius-hemphill-music.html
  4. FYI, now on Bandcamp. https://newworldrecords.bandcamp.com/album/julius-hemphill-1938-1995-the-boy-multi-national-crusade-for-harmony. Tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday, meaning the platform is not taking their cut of sales. See https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/bandcamp-fridays-2021 for more info.
  5. Speaking of Philly and Trane connections... you might also enjoy Trudy Pitts' work. Jeff Palmer definitely helped keep the Larry Young flame burning in the 80s and 90s. EASE ON with Arthur Blythe, John Abercrombie and Victor Lewis is a good place to start.
  6. Nice! Thanks for the heads up!
  7. Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilezfXEtcag
  8. Yes, sorry, I'd forgotten he passed. I guess copies of the BASRA RVG made their way to markets overseas (EU), but never stateside. Previous board discussion (2004) It's an excellent recording, with some of Henderson's fieriest BN work. It definitely merits inclusion.
  9. It should! I wonder if Pete LaRoca has changed his mind, though.
  10. I'm all for an "all for nothing" approach to their vaults. Trying to remember now if the Joseph reissue was to have included extra material.
  11. I guess we're never going to see that Don Joseph Uptown LP reissued / make it to digital formats.
  12. I doubt it, but maybe this set will also include some of the rejected Horace Silver Quintet performances from Pep's? Or an officially official release of the Cork & Bib performances? https://www.jazzdisco.org/horace-silver/discography/#640815
