  2. Yes, sorry, I'd forgotten he passed. I guess copies of the BASRA RVG made their way to markets overseas (EU), but never stateside. Previous board discussion (2004) It's an excellent recording, with some of Henderson's fieriest BN work. It definitely merits inclusion.
  3. It should! I wonder if Pete LaRoca has changed his mind, though.
  4. I'm all for an "all for nothing" approach to their vaults. Trying to remember now if the Joseph reissue was to have included extra material.
  5. I guess we're never going to see that Don Joseph Uptown LP reissued / make it to digital formats.
  6. I doubt it, but maybe this set will also include some of the rejected Horace Silver Quintet performances from Pep's? Or an officially official release of the Cork & Bib performances? https://www.jazzdisco.org/horace-silver/discography/#640815

Another vote for PORTRAIT OF MARIAN MCPARTLAND. Pretty ear-opening.
  8. Glad to know this is available! Hemphill + John Carter... sold!

Dig this version of "Warm Valley" from Roamin' With Richardson. The way he ranges up and down the baritone here — and, at times, even his articulation — reminds me of Eric Dolphy's work on bass clarinet. IIRC, there was mutual admiration between the two musicians. There's also Tiny In Swingville with Tiny Grimes. A co-leader date, and not your standard blowing session.
  10. He made some lovely records for ECM (solo cello mostly).
  11. And thank you for this EARTRIP link!
  12. Fifty years ago, Marion Brown recorded “Afternoon of a Georgia Faun,” an experimental, musical collaboration to re-create the sounds of nature from his Southern childhood. Jazz critic Jon Ross takes us on a journey through Brown’s musical legacy. Story by Jon Ross | Photographs by Larry Fink Read it here: https://bittersoutherner.com/feature/2021/marion-browns-musical-portrait-of-georgia
  13. Yes indeed! Maybe the absurd version of this, but still illuminative: https://unseenworlds.bandcamp.com/album/satie-slowly
