    Tony Scott

From the same era as the DAY IN NEW YORK sessions are SUNG HEROES and AT LAST. The former a rather subdued studio date with Evans, LaFaro and Motian, the latter an edgier live recording (Half Note?) with Evans again, plus Jimmy Garrison and Pete LaRoca. Some excellent late period Scott to be heard on this recording, IMO.

IMO, a must-hear if you are a Scott fan. https://www.discogs.com/Tony-Scott-2-Bill-Evans-A-Day-In-New-York/release/2500212

  5. I dig it when Wayne honks. Cut-out fodder back in the day, but still a favorite.
  6. It's OK; I enjoy it. Nice archival work sprinkled in, but depth of coverage varies. I get the sense Mr. King is an enthusiast first and foremost.

    Dennis Gonzalez

From what I can tell, Dennis' health continues to be precarious. Best way to keep up with him is via Facebook. All that being said, best not to sleep on this recent release... although it may not be for everyone... https://ayler-records.bandcamp.com/album/vanishing-light-in-the-tunnel-of-dreams

  16. Can't wait for the DVD box set with all the raw footage. I mean, I would hope something like that comes to be. Was the tenor player with Mongo Hadley Caliman? I know he was in Mongo's band during this era. Whoever is playing the tenor solo on "Watermelon Man," it's a good one!

    Oregon - 1974

Definitely interested. First came to their music through Towner's and Walcott's non-Oregon ensembles. Still think Moore and McCandless are pretty underrated, and they arguably supplied the ensemble with most of its quote-unquote jazz.
