  1. Brian Charette. Jeff Mills, even if I am very late to that party. Also, Charles Curtis. https://charlescurtis.bandcamp.com/album/performances-recordings-1998-2018
  2. Not necessarily a favorite, but an at-times interesting detour by a player worthy of wider recognition.
  3. On the same topic, just now learning about this as well: https://downbeat.com/news/detail/new-documentary-chronicles-black-artists-group-of-the-60s
  4. Nice detective work. Thank you!
  5. Yes, agree about Sarah Hennies! Hope that this isn't a tease, or, to use a Sangrey-ism, that it hasn't been PALO ALTO-ed. But Google is giving me nothing.
  6. Supposedly forthcoming from New World Records. But the only info I can find is this screenshot a friend shared with me. Anybody here know anything more about this release? Thanks!!
  7. I've only ever heard vinyl rips. But, agree: a nice date!
  8. This LP was paired with NORTHERN WINDOWS on this Fantasy 2fer: https://www.discogs.com/Hampton-Hawes-Northern-Windows-Plus/release/7440522
  9. Gilbert Sorrentino, Lunar Follies.

    Ricky Ford

LOXODONTA AFRICANA, his first leader date, is still in print, IIRC. You might also see if you can also track down a copy of THE TENORS OF YUSEF LATEEF AND RICKY FORD.
  12. Thanks for posting; great conversations in this video.
  13. Yes, that's the story.
  14. Interviewees in the I CALLED HIM MORGAN doc claim Lee started wearing his hair like this to cover up scars from a drug-related injury. They also show quite a few Frank Wolff photos of Lee with his head bandaged due to that same injury. Wayne Shorter's commentary on how he's looking at Lee in those photos alone makes that film worth watching, IMO.
