  1. My vote goes for "None of the Above" the 6 pack and bourbon chaser is in second place!! What's so bad about the classic English Style breakfast with bangers, chips, eggs and beans, toast and black coffee?
  2. Check out Mike's solo on "The Purple Lagoon" off Frank Zappa's Live in New York for an amazing example of some PRIMO Brecker jamming.
  3. Have to agree there...my cds are not really organized and I had to look at the cover of EVERY damn disc int he pile...folks, that is a TON of disks scattered around my apartment. The payoff was pretty incredible though...gotta love "Blue Train". When that theme runs thru my noggin at inopportune monts, it brings me to a better place. I was gonna listen to the whole thing a few times and then vote, but I just have to go with my gut on this one. Trust me folks, my gut is almost as big as the pile of discs on the floor!

    Sep RVGs

Another five way tie..the Silver got my vote though on the first batch...as far as this one, I need all except the Morgan, but I'm pretty sure I'll be upgrading it...just to keep up with the series. Probably gonna vote for the McLean...or the Bud, but damn it all, why can't we vote for more than one title?
  5. Five way tie for me...need all of em except the Coltrane...well obviously!!

    Oct conns?

Now that I think about it, I ordered the Rivers' from Blue Moon not too long ago, so maybe Hank gets the bump as my 4th pickup...or maybe the Rouse...Ahh hell, I just will only buy half of the upcoming RVG's instead of all of em. This is a VERY good time to be a Jazz Fan!!

    Oct conns?

I too, have to go with the Hill on this one...I am definetly gonna get four of em, right out of the box...literally!! Andrew Hill - Passing Ships Larry Young - Mother Ship Lee Morgan - Sonic Boom Sam Rivers - Fuchsia Swing Song The Mobley and the Rouse are not on the list, becuase I am overly familiar with Mobley, familliar enough to pass this one by for a bit...as for the Rouse, I can see myself getting it further on down the road!
  8. 50% off with NO shipping and Handling, bad news is there are only two more days for the promotion....Ends on July 16th. Promo code is G3PF!!!!
  9. I'd like to know, and leave it up to B-3er to decide wheter or not this person should be "punished". After all it WAS just a harmless joke...a VERY CRUEL and NON-FUNNY joke, but a harmless joke all the same.
  10. I had the amazing opportunity to see Hutch with McCoy at Yoshis earlier this year and the guy freakin' floored me. I loved how Hutch would cap off each solo by wacking the High Holy Heck out of the highest note on his vibe... Stunning!!!
  11. You are Stephan, It's more than just RVG's not all of em, but most of em...the offer inclused Definitive (the verve/BN jobbies) sets and some original late 80's issues, but its a grab bag, so get down there ASAP!
  12. I put him easily in my top 20, being really close to the top 10...being edged out by a few more individualistic performers, but mainly thinking in terms of composition. That being said, a few (not many, but a few) of his records leave me feeling very cold. His worst material has an almost stuffy, austere glean to it, so that puts him out of my personal top 10. Even some of his best stuff has an emotional detachemnt that to some might appear to be a turn-off. Still I have to give him credit to sticking to his very personal, idiosyncratic style and not selling out or going "Fusion" in the 70's at the cost of whatever monetary rewards he might have wanted to chase. He's still doing what he has always done at around age 65, so thats gotta count for something.
  13. Ironically it's George Duke doing most of the rambling dialouges. I DO however LOVE the opening of Montana on disc two, where someone from the audience requests Whipping Post, and it takes the band three false starts to nail the intro to the song. FZ inserts several Whipping Post refrences into the song... Raising my lonely, Whipping Post! Good good stuff, and of course FZ rarely played as many completely brilliant guitar solos as he does on this set.
  14. Looks like they have also just added the Essential Dave Brubeck. If only I hadn't blown my wad before I found out it was added. Yes, very excellent selection of titles there at BMG!
  15. Definetly these: 2) Another Side of Bob Dylan 6) John Wesley Harding 7) Nashville Skyline 9) Blood On The Tracks 13) Infidels as I do not have any of them on cd at the moment. Over time I will probably get the other essential titles (Freewheelin', Highway 61, BIABH and Blonde) but as I already have the original issue, there is no point in getting rid of them unless they have extra tracks, but I am seriously not counting on it.
  16. Good call. (Remastered) (2 CD(s)) D233087 Really ashamed that I didn't have most or all of these already. I saved over 135 bucks!!!!
  17. I'm on Love Bug right now...DAMN, these cats are Burnin' Coleman has rarely sounded better to me. This is what Soul jazz records should shoulnd like. Hot diggity Dawg!
  18. Picked up my (possibly) final order today. Turning Point - Lonnie Smith Curtis Fuller Vol 3 The Cooker -Lee Morgan Love Bug- Ruben Wilson Detroit/New York Junction - Thad Jones All of these are TOCJ's except for the Wilson title, which was I beleive the same remastering as the Rare Groove US Edition All of em sound as good as they should be, which is to say, extreeemely good. Anone with any reservations regarding this series hould re-examine their Priorities!!!
  19. ...do well. Surely that's exactly what you meant, correct?
  20. Very amusing thread. Yeah, I think I had a bit of a crush on Alanis Morrissette in those days. Not so much anymore though. I remember very few specifics about the show, but they did a bit of a tribute to the show on an episode of News Radio from several years ago. Dave Foley is Canadian and was on that show and always wondered if he had something to do with it. Funny thing is, that I am sure that many from my generation were probably influenced by that show and have gone on to create and write for television.
  21. Well, the entire site seems to be well done for the moment. I was all ready to place one more LARGE order and now the site isn't working...anyone know of other avenues to pick some of these up? I was ready to order The Cooker, Cliff Jordan, Detroit/New York Junction, Might As Well Be Spring, Poppin and Curtis Fuller Vol. 3.
