  1. I'll take whatever's cheaper...
  2. not to mention... Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp Bomp Bomp)
  3. Bama-Lama-Lama-Loo!
  4. Ya think Brad Bird likes the Fantastic Four? Very enjoyable movie, but my favorite Pixar film remains Monsters Inc.
  5. "One of the better ones?" Toy Story A Bug's Life Toy Story 2 Monsters, Inc. Finding Nemo
  6. Paul, you can jump into any of them without fear. My advice is to look over the track listings and pick the one with some of your favorite standards to see what the trio does with them. After all these years (20+), I still have a particular fondness for Standards, vol. 1 - the very first one - for the amazing version of "God Bless the Child."
  7. $180 is a very good price! Congrats on that score!
  8. At least we know he wouldn't need a boat...
  9. Maybe not "drunk" per se, but Aric's said a few memorable things on this very board...
  10. Well in that case I'll vote again. For the "Short Attention Span..." Huh? What's that? Gotta run...
  11. Nope. Same old thoughts. There are good things and bad things about copyrights, their lapses, and their extensions.
  12. Sorry to be the one to piss in the punchbowl, but I thought it was just okay. Giamatti's pretty terrific as usual, the story's nicely written, and overall it's not a bad film by any means, but it just didn't move me. I thought "Kinsey" was much more interesting and entertaining.
  13. I won't say that the RVG CDs are "unlistenable" to me, but it's pretty clear in my limited comparisons that the CDs are brighter (often far brighter) than the LPs. Whether one prefers one tonality over the other is subjective; that the CDs are brighter, though, is a matter of fact. One may prefer the enhanced higher end (and resultant "clarity") of the CD - or conversely, perhaps it's the LPs that may be rolled off on top - but they do often sound different.
  14. I gotta agree that most of Garbarek's recent albums haven't been to my taste, but the live - er, um, radio broadcasts - stuff that I've heard have been pretty tasty. He can still play more "jazzy" when he wants to.
  15. What Lon said. There's a very good 3-CD (iirc) comp of his Aladdin material out there; a good choice if you don't want/need all 7 CDs worth of the Mosaic.
  16. Every time I see this thread I can't help but think how presumptuous it is for you guys to think that I'm even listening to Lee Morgan right now.
  17. Man, this 1964 European tour is a discographical mess! Sure is hard to keep straight. I have the old "Great Concert" on LP, but it appears now that parts of that were taken (edited) from other shows, with only this latest CD release offering the complete show (sans encore apparently). I just ordered this disc, but meanwhile I've been listening to the Stuttgart show from 4/28/64 (or at least what's supposed to be the Stuttgart show) and it's perhaps the most incredble show of the tour, with a 40+ minute version of "Fables." And the sound quality is great. Recently downloaded it from easytree. I think they're from newly discovered sources or something - the site's down at the moment but I'll try to post a link later.
  18. I'd much rather be part of a chicken wing conspiracy...
  19. I'll try to dig up more. Last time I saw Buddy he was still confined to his wheelchair and unable to play (stroke, I think it was...). Hopefully this means he's gotten better.
  20. Little Rock, Arkansas? Uh, no...
  21. Need I remind you, Jim, that you're the one who closed the Babes Thread?
  22. JJ Abrams created Alias, so you know he's got some tricks up his sleeve. Don't think too hard about this one. If you're enjoying it, just sit back and go along for the ride...
  23. From what I've read, despite early reports there are *no dinosaurs* on the island. The producres also claim that this "isn't a science fiction show." Don't know what that means, but it's been a fun ride so far. Let the speculation begin! My friend at ABC has no idea of long-term plans for the show either...
