  1. One of my favorite moments in all of jazz is when Bird quotes "Donkey Serenade" during the Massey Hall show...
  2. If it's any consolation, googling "yoko ono nude" doesn't come up with an Org.org link in the first 20 pages. There is, however a Stevehoffman.tv link in 7th place...
  3. I have a harder time believing that 11 people looking for "ice cream containers" (!)actually clicked through to org.org. B-)
  4. What the hell's a "funny rat" anyway? It was a hundred pages long before I realized it was a thread devoted to AG. I thought it was a Ralph Bakshi appreciation page...
  5. I agree. So can we please have a Kenny G thread?
  6. No, hate to label genres any more than they already get labeled. Re: Funny Rat thread. My only regret is that it wasn't more clearly labeled a a-g/free jazz thread from the start as I overlooked it for months before I decided to see just what it was all about. I missed a lot as a result...
  7. For Blue Note, I'd consider Mobley's "A Slice Of the Top" rather "offbeat" due to its instrumentation. As for the Verve Elites, I haven't heard it but I suspect the Lalo Schifren "De Sade" disc would qualify...
  8. I heard these were once out on CD but I've never seen a copy. I'd like tp hear these!
  9. Wow. I've only got a handful - less than ten maybe..
  10. I'm actually looking forward to the "finished" aspect of this. I've never been that impressed with the SMiLE boots that I have since it's always felt so fragmented - so much a work-in-progress. Still, I can't help but think that the best way to devalue one of the "greatest unreleased albums of all time" is to finally finish it, release it, and replace its angel wings with chains binding it to the earth...
  11. Cute Jim! I remember when my girls were that young. But as good as it may seem now it only gets better!

    "GOLD" CDs

I put little stock in the gold per se - I don't think it makes much difference. But as others have said, the gold CD has come to represent audiophile production and mastering, with a different agenda than mass-market "silver" discs. So yes, I find that they often "sound better," but that has much more to do with mastering than with the gold layer.
  13. Is that a peel-and-stick guitar?
  14. I'm still mesmerized by those damn knees!
  15. For once in my life I can't think of anything stupid enough to add...
  16. Wouldn't you know that someone just had to bring this old thread "up for air."
  17. I love you all too. But I still don't wanna marry any of you! B-)
  18. Not Nancy!!!!
  19. Ah, nostalgic! My favorite quote from the very first page... "Hey look! We have catesta, Johnny E, RoosterTies and Lon all posting amicably on the same thread! Isn't it nice when we find these things that really bring us together?"
  20. I'm somewhat relieved that I can probably skip these two and get caught up on some other ones instead. I have most if not all of the Pullens, and - burn me as a heretic - but these Dexter live dates never really did much for me.
  21. Hey, look at that chick checking me out! She must really dig my shirt... B-)
  22. Never seen her or her shows. Just checked the Food Network schedule and she seems to be on mostly while I'm at work. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled... Meanwhile, did I tell you that my 3-year old girls are in love with Alton Brown?
  23. Five of us carpooled to Best Buy to purchase these during lunch. Felt like a high school geekfest. Sure looking forward to seeing these - reviews of pic quality have been stellar (needless tweaks notwithstanding). But that flimsy slipcase box blows!
