  1. Her accent (Boston? Bronx? What?) only makes it funnier!
  2. Or like that time Godzilla destroyed Tokyo.
  3. Why a joke? It's not like he hasn't won it in the past.
  4. Hey Joe, where's Charlie performing?
  5. Carry it with you, and as you're rapidly sucked into that growing black hole time will slow down for you and you'll have an eternity to watch it. Then again, you might want grab a better show...
  6. FYI for Joe and Adam (or anyone else interested): both the Santa Barbara and Santa Monica shows have turned on Dime in audience recordings. (And Dylan apparently doesn't mind for those worried about such things.)
  7. Yeah, I really went into this concert thinking it may be the last time I see Dylan on stage. I love his music beyond any other - and I hope he continues to make many more albums - but he can't possibly tour much longer with any relevance and I'm more apt to see a younger, more vital act - or at least someone I haven't already seen so many times before.
  8. Imo, that's not so much an example of "banning" than of the extremists winning.
  9. It should probably be noted, at least for our foreign friends, that although these books (and many more) may all have been "banned" at some point, only a small handful have ever truly been inaccessible. When we say "banned," more often then not it's simply some silly conservative politician in some small town (or maybe Boston ) who objects to a book for some reason - but the vast majority of the country is not in favor of banning books. The Harry Potter books, for example, are objected to only by some Religious ultra-conservatives who dislike any non-God displays of magic; they may have been technically banned in Jesus Saves, Arkansas, but believe me they were very much available elsewhere.
  10. Proof, though, that sometimes scientists really shouldn't mess with things they don't understand...
  11. I believe the scientists involved and am certain that nothing disastrous will happe-
  12. That and the sweet smell of weed...
  13. And yet those may be the only "banned" books suitable for pre-teens (besides the Twain of course).
  14. Wow. 26, but I do like Stephen King. Surprised by some of these - and I know there's many more.
  15. I have no idea why, but The Archies' "Sugar, Sugar."
  16. Saw him in Santa Monica last week. I'm getting a bit old for the general admission shows, but was nevertheless pleased to get as close to the stage as we were. Can't say I enjoyed the show as much as I have in the past. His band was strong, but Dylan's vocals (at least in a live setting) are increasingly disappointing to me (and the sound mix was pretty rough, at least at first). Funny comment about his changing up the tunes to prevent audience "sing-alongs" - I was thinking the same thing. I will say that Dylan appeared to be having a swell time.
  17. Am I an audiophile? With Polk speakers and Cambridge Audio gear, I'm not sure. Those wo aren't audiophiles might say "yes," but those who are would likely say "no."
  18. It was recently announced that the clearance "booster packs" from Circuit City will be expiring at the end of September - that is, you have to use the cards by then, after which you have 60 days to use the song credits. Apparently the cards bought at Best Buy are good until November, but it's not clear how to differentiate them.
  19. As did "Grapefruit Moon," that Southside Johnny/Tom Waits big band album that was discussed a week or two back.
  20. Premature e-speculation?
  21. Bo-ring. Way too much of a mediocre thing. There are gems to be found in the Abbey Road tapes, of course, but the unabridged version is a waste of time imo. Overall, though, the Purple Chick remasters/compilations are excellent.
  22. The remake album is also available on Emusic.
  23. And it's a good one. Downloaded it there myself a few weeks ago.
  24. Thanks Flurin! No Schilt on emusic, but a few of the other guys pop up. I'll have to check them out. Having lots of fun exploring some Euro jazzers lately. Have really fallen in love with several Pieranunzi discs and just downloaded Farao's "Takes on Pasolini."
