  1. Yes, I am guilty. I admit that the main reason depends on the fact the one of my early girlfriends had some sort of worship for Sting, and I were jealous: he was more handsome, more rich, more famous and sang better then me. At times I presumed that also his schwantzstuck was bigger then mine. And now I still hates him, because I am exhausted after only ten minuts of tantric sex, and he could last for seven hours. Now that's a good reason for hating The Police!
  2. As i said above about insecurity being ugly. Why is it that whenever someone expresses an unpopular opinion everyone must attack him and insist that "he's obviously an idiot?" Again, so what if he doesn't like jazz?
  3. I agree. Copeland's a terrific drummer and whether he actually dislikes jazz or just gets a kick out of stirring the pot makes no difference to me. Someone doesn't need to like "my music" for me to dig (or not) them and vice versa. I really hope that most of you attacking him for his statements aren't as insecure as you sound. I don't like much opera or country music - so what? Besides, he's a drummer. What does he know?
  4. No no no, you idiot. The haiku form is 5-7-5.

    ECM SMOOTH 'JAZZ'

Why the hostility? I thought Youmustbe was joking - or at least being sarcastic. Iirc, he's stood up for Eicher and ECM in other threads.
  6. Well, if nothing else, one of the younger "rocker" guys here at work asked to listen to any OC albums I might have.
  7. There's currently a 1979 Keystone Korner Curson show on Dime...
  8. I have a hard time believing that anyone who buys a Mosaic set for "only" profit motives would be spending any time at all over at AAJ or here. I don't have a lot of sympathy either way. The sets are usually available for several years, everyone has a chance to buy them, and whether someone buys it for the music or as an investment the money is the same to Mosaic. I wish a lot of the older, oop sets were cheaper too, but to be honest I've bought a few sets that I was unsure about knowing that I could always resell them later and at least break even.
  9. Saw Kahil El'Zabar along with Billy Bang and Hamiet Bluitt a month or two ago and it was one of the best shows of the year.
  10. Seemed like a Chili Pepper pose as usual. Seriously, they couldn't have had Ornette play with them? No spontaneous magic in high paid rock anymore. Too many publicists and record execs to think about I guess. Who's to say they didn't ask and he turned them down. Or perhaps OC wanted a small fortune for a performance fee (from what i hear, that's not unheard of for him).
  11. If it ain't West Coast it's shit... Seriously, though, I agree - very fine disc!
  12. MG I keep getting that album confused with The Who's Quadrophenia.
  13. Anna Nicole: stripper bimbo of no discernable talent, "famous for being famous", lived a sad, pathetic life. Was a punchline long before she came to a sad end. Barbaro: Champion, might have been historically great, suffered hideous accident yet gallantly held on until medical science could do no more. Aside from the fact that one is a horse and one is a human, I'd say the reactions are fairly normal. Good comparison. I've also heard that they were both ridden hard and put away wet...
  14. Metheny was here Jarrett refuses to leave Oh Trio Beyond!
  15. Which one's the hockey guy?
  16. Then there was that Flintstones character, Shirley Sheetrock.
  17. Chewy's a smart dude He talked to Lou on the phone About the sammich
  18. Just a note that this is on Friday night in L.A.
  19. No question. Though I do feel her death is significant because she was a somewhat popular figure, the media frenzy that will result is laughable and unnecessary. But hey, try selling the American public on the importance China's dealings in Africa as being more significant than this tabloidy* trash. But I don't buy that argument. I think if you asked just about anybody, they'd agree that things like China, Africa, Iraq, Darfur, etc. are all far more important than some trashy, drug-addled stripper/starlet's death. But those "bigger issues" are harder to relate to on a personal level - one can't dismiss them with a wisecrack, a sympathetic shake of the head, or a simple "R.I.P." Celeb deaths fascinate people, I think, because on the one hand so many of us know who they are and can relate to them almost as deceased friends... but on the other hand we don't really "know" them at all, which gives us a comfortable emotional distance from which to comment.
  20. I'm confused, and your presumably made-up names aren't helping. Are Bullshitforall, Recordsofsound, and Shitforbrains the same seller or different? You're not helping me know who to stay away from.
  21. If that's the real reason Chris left, I don't know what to say. Seems just a wee bit dramatic, don't you think? That's my reaction as well. I miss Chris here, and RonF too, for that matter, but the "I'm gonna take my ball and go home" schtick never really impressed me. However, I do have a suggestion. Could we please add a new forum to the board? If we had a dedicated "Fuck off and go away, Scott Dolan" forum, it would gather all this into one area so Scott (and the rest of us) could enjoy it properly, rather than having it pop up in any thread in any forum. Just seems like it would be more convenient for all concerned... Great idea! Might I suggest a "Chuck Nessa Welcomes Newbies" thread to go with it.

    SOUL STATION

Though I had some other Mobley dating back to the mid-80's, I came late to the Soul Station party. Didn't hear it until the RVG came out. Hard to believe I missed that one, but jazz reissues "back then" weren't what they are today.
