  1. High Def, better quality digital even w/o HD, more channels, freeing up bandwith to resell for billions. Need more?
  2. But whatever we don't kill becomes stronger!
  3. I hear the Gerald Ford dollar is gonna replace the quarter.
  4. RDK

    Wynton Marsalis

Sheesh. Didn't he (or Blue Note for that matter) learn anything from Osby?
  5. But as a buyer, using a realtor is of no cost to you since the realtor's fees typically come out of the sale proceeds. Afaic, using a buyer's agent (at least) to purchase a house is a no-brainer. Selling a house without an agent makes some financial sense, but that only benefits the seller (who doesn't have to pay). So if you're doing the extra work to buy w/o an agent and are willing to take on the extra risk that comes with it... you better be getting a great deal to offset it. The seller will make more money w/o an agent, but what will you get out of it?
  6. I wouldn't recommend it. Be very, very careful.
  7. You make it sound like a fad. A montage is simply a cinematic device that's been around since the silent era and used to compress time for certain sequences. Yeah, it can be used badly - and parodied per Team America - but it's not really something that changes from decade to decade.
  8. It would've been funnier if the misprint was "In Dog We Trust."
  9. I, at least, won't drop the dime on you. Afaic, share away!
  10. Fascinating. It reminds me of what I've long been saying about places like MySpace: The great thing about MySpace is that it allows everyone in the world to have their own website. But the bad thing about MySpace is that it allows everyone in the world to have their own website. -_-
  11. Ray doesn't have to cross over onto the Hollywood side, he works in Universal City. Just kidding, Ray's right. My parents said the chaotic driving in Italy made them fearful for their lives, like nothing we ever see this side of the pond. Yeah, I have a leisurely commute through Griffith Park! But send me to the West Side and I'll be cursing up a storm!
  12. Welcome back, Shrdlu!
  13. I'm gonna pipe in and say that I don't think the drivers in L.A./So Cal are all that bad. Sure, there can often be a lot of traffic (though i encounter little of it on my commute), but in traffic everyone drives slowly. I've encountered far worse drivers in other parts of the country. And our friends from European cities must be laughing their asses of at our complaints - I've never seen such "bad" drivers as in Paris, Brussels, or parts of Germany.
  14. Nina Simone? I thought that was a Pussycat Dolls song!
  15. Odds are good that we won't be hearing anyone sing "Feeling Good" anytime soon. Damn song is cursed!
  16. Very true. My kids love it and we all enjoy watching it together.
  17. It's not so bad. Where else can you hear kids sing without autotune and pitch-correction?
  18. Agree completely. Even calling her a "jazz singer" is really a stretch. So she scatted a bit (and not so well at that), that doesn't make her a jazz singer. I agree that there are worse singers than her remaining, but she had an odd personality and even worse stage presence. Jazz or not, she would have been my first pick to go last night too.
  19. I know it sounds obvious, but have you tried cleaning the disc? I've encountered problems like that that have gone away after a light cleaning. But sometimes there are unseen digital flaws - in fact, I have a Mosaic Select disc that I need to return to them with that very problem.
  20. It's Mingus' rare drummerless, double-piano sextet. Only played the one gig.
  21. Good news, Paul - and good luck on your "journey." It's tough to start over, but it can be a great opportunity as well - and it sounds like you're heading in a great direction.
  22. http://dylanhearsawho.com/ Brilliant!
  23. I (and almost everyone else really) thought so at first, but the timing doesn't make sense. While Jack and his sister-in-law clearly had a thing going at some point, it would seem to have been before Jack married his wife and had Kim - and this kid is much younger than Kim (who'd be in her mid-20s by now). So no, I no longer think he's Jack's son.
  24. Fuck that. If I'm in the mood for jazz, there's no way I'm going into a store like Amoeba and want to search through uncategorized music. I'm not in favor of narrow classifications, but I'd much rather there be seperate Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Country, etc. sections than to have everything lumped in together.
