  1. Can anyone supply the recording and/or first release dates of the following compositions? Ecuador Evening in Pakistan June Christy Thanks!
  2. I have an opossum that has moved onto the back porch and is eating the cat food. I'm still deciding on a name.
  3. I love how, after someone dies, the news always says "developing story" or "live updates." What's there to develop or update? DAID iz DAID!!!
  4. Agree, but Jack's death has many parallels with Elvis's, including (but not limited to) iconic status as a solo performer and weird sexual fetishes. Lennon's death has more in common with Kennedy's, in terms of who he was, what he represented (real or imagined) and how he died.
  5. Too bad, you could put it all on eBay right now and buy some new effects pedals.
  6. Sky Saxon, lead singer and bassist of '60s garage rockers the Seeds, died Thursday in an Austin, Texas hospital. He had been in the ICU since Monday suffering from an undisclosed illness -- doctors suspected an internal organ infection -- until his wife, Sabrina, announced his passing via Facebook. Influenced heavily by the Rolling Stones, Saxon -- born Richard Marsh -- founded the Seeds in 1965 in California. The next year, the psychedelic rockers released two albums, 'The Seeds' and 'A Web of Sound,' and had hits with 'Can't Seem to Make You Mine' and 'Pushin' Too Hard,' their most successful song. In 1967, the band released two more albums: 'Future,' a psychedelic rock album, and 'A Full Spoon of Seedy Blues,' which was credited to the Sky Saxon Blues Band and featured liner notes by the legendary Muddy Waters. After some lineup changes and a few more commercially unsuccessful albums, Saxon dissolved the band in the early '70s. He joined a California commune, the Source Family, adopted the name Sunlight and occasionally performed with their trippy house band, the Ya Ho Wa 13. In 1989, Saxon reformed the Seeds to tour with other '60s acts like Big Brother and the Holding Company, and Arthur Lee and Love. They toured again in 2003, and Saxon kept busy musically, releasing an album last year, and recording with the Smashing Pumpkins. Though he fell ill last Thursday, Saxon still managed to play a short gig on Saturday night at Austin rock club Antone's. Earlier today, Sabrina Sherry Smith Saxon wrote on her Facebook page, "Sky has passed over and YaHoWha is waiting for him at the gate. He will soon be home with his Father. I'm so sorry I couldn't keep him here with us. More later. I'm sorry." No other announcements have been made.
  7. I was there at the time, and I will agree with you about Off the Wall.
  8. I have what I think is a later pressing on Verve called "Insensatez." I think the MGM came first and it may have had an extra track (my Verve album has 11 tunes). The MGM has nicer cover art, too, which as you know is VERY important. It is a nice easy/bossa record for the time period, but it's nothing essential. When I want Lalo I reach for Bullit, Enter the Dragon, Mannix, Dirty Harry, Gillespiana, or The New Continent. And probably a dozen others that I'm not thinking of.
  9. NO, Lisa with an S is tolerable. The Z person is not.
  10. Brace yourselves for Liza appearances on Larry King.
  11. Plenty. I have it on LP. Plenty. I have it on LP.
  12. Supposedly there's some organ trio that named themselves after this message board.
  13. Just curious, what don't you like about these?
  14. I'm not sure the psychology that is at work here, but: I am meticulous about filing my LPs. However, I am pretty careless with CDs. I try to keep them roughly arranged by genre, but that's about it. I ditched many of the jewel cases long ago, so I have to pick up a stack and go through them by cover to find what I'm looking for. I've probably lost some CDs over the years but I've probably forgotten which. Only lost a few LPs. Oh, well, it's not like I don't have anything to listen to. My only advice for filing is to find a system that is meaningful to you.
