  1. Tal Farlow "tal" on Verve 8021 tpt label. A fantastic Eddie Costa Th Talbert "bix fats duke" atl black. Nice arrangment session, somewhat underrated.
  2. Yes... here we have the demonstration of how and why prices are climbing
  3. Rolf KUHN "Streamline" on Vanguard or.DG. A fantastic album. One af my all time/ all styles favourites. Musically brilliant, technically outstanding, and above all geniously swingin'. With the divine Ronnell Bright.
  4. I confirm it was a bargain. And, fortunately, it is possible to find gems at affordable and even bargain prices. Obviously Ebay has gouged our perception of the vintage jazz record market.
  5. It cracks me up - maybe that's one reason why it's so expensive, the comedy factor! Well after all it is "a long DRINK of the blues". The answer maybe hidden in the title.
  6. Yes, at 50 it is a bargain - (anyway it depends when was the last time you visit prex )
  7. Hell, man! I'd go $60 ea for ten NM copies. Then I'd sell them over the next two years and MORE than double my money. I've seen this one sell for $150 several times. Heck, even the MGM pressings can fetch $50 these days! That was exactly what i meant.
  8. What amazes me even more, its the fact that some people pay more thant 400 $ for a NM original copy of this one.
  9. speaking about "avant" or "arriere" garde.... listen to julien lourau's "fire ad foget" two CD's. or meshell ndegeocello's "dance of the infidels"
  10. NM, 50 $ ? i'll take ten copies of this one.
  11. Much like this one: Well, this lonnie smith cover is fine. Flash is a little too much, anyway....
  12. See how those "new " covers look out of time compared to the beautiful, untemporal original Reid Miles !! I always have that feeling when i see them.
  13. Wynton Kelly "Kelly Blue" Riverside LP 12-298. Or DG. One of the finest versions of "Green Dolphin Street" ever.
  14. Turrentine is (also) fantastic on those albums : Look out ! on Blue Note (highly recommended , VERY groovy : listen to the first song !!!!!!) Up at Minton's 1 and 2 Stan "The Man" Turrentine on Time His brother's session on Time 'Tommy Turrentine" ( really a very good session)
  15. "Jazzmen Detroit" Savoy bloodred DG original. Kenny and Pepper.
  16. Total lunacy. NOW this is REALLY absurd.
  17. Phil Woods "Warm Woods" Epic Or. Yellow label, DG. Beautiful session !!!!!
  18. one of Hank's best sessions. Who has ever seen a W36rd BOTH sides of this one ? Larry Cohn reported me that it exists....Never seen this bird....
  19. one of Hank's best sessions.
  20. And VG- ! (must be trashed) Yes, but as often, the guys bid on the piece of legend (which is priceless) not to actually listen to the record (which is trashed)
  21. Yes : that's what i say : after a brutal take off, those NM "heavies" have found their cruse altitude on Ebay : between 1000 and 1500 $. Of course its very high price, but I think they will not reach 2000 $ like in previous auctions. Anyway, the two have been purcahsed by a japanese dealer... You can imagine the resell price.... Roundagain, the seller, is a very honest, reliable seller and a nice person. He deserves his success. yes they (japanese dealers) are searching for rare records all the time for which private collectors are willing to pay a high price for. very often they fix the price before the record is even bought. as these collectors have no time for searching on ebay and even no time for hustling through all the processes at ebay but have good money, they commission record dealers to do that. Yes, its quite obvious. Wow....bidding with another one's (big) money... what a thrill

  23. Toshiba BLP 5066 : very good sound Lex BLP 5066 : very good also, but maybe a little more dynamics (IMO, with my tourne disques)
  24. I think anyone here deserves , because with a single question "should a VG+ record skip ?" we have 3 pages (to be continued) of debate. I can not even imagine what number of replies we would have with a question like, say, "should a NM- (i particularily like the "NM Minus") record have a soft tick a the very beginning of track 3 of the first side ?
