  1. Frankly, neither do you. Aren't you the guy who said that Sonny Rollins only played "lame crap" or something like that a while back? My apologies if I have the wrong guy. Yup, that's him. Guy
  2. I dunno. Most probably Filles de Kilimanjaro (Miles Davis), though I don't know whether I'd put "Mademoiselle Mabry" on repeat the whole time or listen to the entire album. Guy
  3. Nice choice for an AOTW. I borrowed a copy from the "library" yesterday. I've never really gotten into the PMG stuff I've heard -- the 1st album is a little too "smooth-sounding" for me (obviously it isn't really smooth jazz, but for me it gives off that vibe), and "As Falls Wichita..." a bit too progrockish. Nevertheless after listening to it once or twice, it was better than I expected. Reminded me a little of Weather Report c. 1980. Guy
  4. I'd put some money down on the Sonics.... ...not getting blown out in every game in this series. Guy
  5. Truly something to aspire to... being a professional soft drink reviewer, I mean, not being overweight. Guy
  6. Yeah, it was great... Guy
  7. I think you'll have to get a pretty good Father's Day gift this year...
  8. I am uploading a bunch of torrents using Azureus and a bunch of them have the message "Scrape Error: Hash Missing". What does this mean? Are the FLAC files corrupted? Guy
  9. My predictions were more or less right -- some teams took less games than I expected. Bulls were the only team that failed to win. So just replace my Bulls-Heat prediction with Wizards-Heat and nothing changes. Guy
  10. You wish you lost them by "only" 50-60 points... Guy
  11. Soul Station, I think it's time to start predicting a Pistons win in the EC Finals. Guy
  12. Disagree about the Wiz being the more talented team -- once you get past the big 3 they are pretty thin. Bulls with Curry and Deng healthy are more talented. Guy
  13. Yup. Move them out west and they'd be lottery bound. Guy
  14. This Mavs-Rockets game is gonna be a good one. Tradesports favors Mavs 65-35. Guy
  15. But on the flipside, Phoenix only won 29 (28?) games last year and won 62 this year -- that's a much bigger turnaround than the Heat. It's fair to say that without the Shaq trade, Miami would still be a playoff team. Without signing Nash, Phoenix is lottery-bound. And yeah, I know that Dallas was better this year than last year, but besides losing Nash they also added Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, Erick Dampier and Keith Van Horn. Guy
  16. That means you're only 26?!? Damn Guy, I always thought you were much older by your posts. That's a compliment, by the way!!! Thanks Jim. While taking a break from grading, I took advantage of the free NY Times archive and dug out some more details about that game: I was wrong, by the way -- Manute did not shoot a 3 pointer in this game. The Warriors had 7 technicals total.
  17. I dug around a little and found two others parts of the interview: part 1 Part 2 Some interesting things in there which bear on earlier discussion in the thread: ... ... ... ...
  18. Aren't Litweiler's comments about Keith Jarrett somewhat, err controversial? (I've heard them described less politely than that, but I haven't read the book.) Guy
  19. This is unrelated to current playoff madness, but I found a pretty cool website that has pretty much any NBA facts/stats you'll ever want. The reason I was looking for it is because in 1990, my dad took me and my brother (we were 11 and 8 at the time) to a Warriors-Suns game. The Warriors (who were a decent team at the time -- Nellie was the coach, Run TMC etc) lost, which sucked. But the game is memorable because (A) the Warriors got a lot of technical fouls -- at least 6, maybe 10 (obviously Don Nelson got ejected), and (B) Tom Frickin' Chambers scored 56 points (!!!). Unfortunately I can't find a box score or game recaps for this thing, but it happened on this day. I also think Manute Bol shot a 3-pointer but I may be confusing it with another game. Guy
  20. Detroit Free Press: And of course, this bit of pop culture trivia is always worth knowing: And, finally, go to louielouie.net.
  21. Well, it looks like the ban passed:
  22. Perhaps the same reason Johnny Hodges stopped playing soprano sax? Didn't Hodges stop playing ss because Duke wouldn't pay him as a "doubler"? Guy
  23. The flipside is that it made something of a comeback with free jazz. Guy
