  1. Of course, if the best player in this series isn't playing tomorrow then the Pistons will win game 7. Guy
  2. 4th or 5th best Guy
  3. Wade not playing, Shaq hobbled... Miami is in trouble unless Wade plays, and plays great, in game 7. Now, if they somehow manage to injure Duncan, the Pistons might actually win the title. Guy
  4. Arrgh... I'm looking at a cart full of OJCs and trying not to click "pay". Guy
  5. Has anybody tried to put the ignore function on themselves? Will the board implode?
  6. A few DVDs of the 1967 and 1969 quintets have been posted on DaD -- I prefer having only the audio, so I haven't downloaded them, but I'm sure they're pretty cool to watch if you're into that sort of thing. Guy
  7. It's not safe to make such an assumption. The vetting only means that these guys weren't displeased with anything that was in the bio. Guy
  8. If it wasn't so over-the-top I wouldn't have said anything. But last night, when he rebounded the ball, held it out to show off, and then had it stolen by a Piston -- how lame can you get! Guy
  9. Is Gabor Szabo on these albums? ← Szabo should be on most of the Chico albums and on Lloyd's first album. Lloyd's second album for Columbia was with Herbie, Ron and Tony IIRC. Guy
  10. By the way, does anyone else agree that Alonzo Mourning deserves the "Biggest Tool of the 2005 Playoffs" award after that rebound=>turnover near the end of the game? Guy
  11. I think you'll dig it -- the first two discs especially. Byablue's been growing on me as well. Guy
  12. ESPN says he is questionable for game 6. I assume as long as the injury is minor and the pain isn't too bad, he'll play. But it's a lucky break for Detroit when they desperately need it. Guy
  13. I blame it all on Francis Davis's excessive lurking habits. Guy
  14. I wonder, if Shaq was playing at 100% instead of 50-60%, whether we'd even be talking about this thing going to game 6. Anyway, the Pistons caught a really lucky break with Wade's injury -- that might be enough for them to sneak into the finals. I figure this thing is going to 7. Guy
  15. Well Moose, you can relax because "Spanish Key", "Sanctuary" and "Miles Runs the Voodoo Down" are devoid of trickery and hence "real jazz". Unlike phony jazz performances like "Blue Train" (I believe there's a splice here!!!), "Ah-Leu-Cha" (1955 Miles Davis recording -- spliced in the middle of Mr. Davis's solo), and "Agitation" (1965 -- drum solo and main tune recorded separately). Guy
  16. Out of curiosity, are end-of-track fadeouts (obviously studio trickery, and present on many pre-1970 jazz sessions) legit?
  17. During the regular season, the Pistons held opponents to 89.5 ppg During the regular season, the Spurs held opponents to 88.4 ppg ← There you have it. The Pistons would have locked the Suns down with that stifling defense. ← ??? The Spurs have an even more stifling defense than the Pistons (playing much tougher opponents than the Pistons) and still gave up 15-16 ppg more against the Suns than normal. Why would the Pistons be different? Guy
  18. During the regular season, the Pistons held opponents to 89.5 ppg During the regular season, the Spurs held opponents to 88.4 ppg
  19. For the month of JUNE all CDs are overpriced, instead of being extremely overpriced. Guy
  20. Non sequitur. To convince me that the Pistons could beat the Suns, you'd have to argue that (1) The Pistons, unlike the Spurs, could hold the Suns to under 100 ppg or (2) The Pistons could suddenly become an offensive juggernaut that could outscore the Suns at their own game. Which of these do you think is realistic? Guy
  21. The Euro's fall is good for Europe, though -- it makes European exporters more competitive. It could help yank Germany and the other stagnant European economies out of their economic slump. Guy
  22. No, that was 104 ppg against an elite defensive team (the Spurs) during the playoffs. You'd have to assume that either the Pistons would be much more effective than the Spurs against the Suns' offense, or that the Pistons would suddenly become an offensive juggernaut. Guy
  23. But let's not exaggerate how stymied the Suns' offense was -- it's relative to their usual production. They still averaged 104 ppg in this series. Detroit was something like 6-12 (33% winning percentage) this season when their opponent scored 100 pts. Guy
  24. Hey dude, they're still the 2nd best team in the NBA. Neither Miami nor Detroit could beat them in a 7 game series. Guy ← I do not agree. Either the Pistons or the Heat would kill the Suns. They do not play defense and they have no solution for teams that play defense against them. They would be lucky to win one game against either team. ← They handily beat the Grizzlies, a defense-oriented team (one that many people predicted would give the Suns headaches). The Heat and the Pistons are better than the Grizzlies, not nearly as good as the Spurs. Hence I think the Suns would probably beat either team. Guy
  25. The Grizzlies were known as a good defensive team -- 6th best in the NBA in defensive efficiency. The Suns ran all over them. The Spurs are unusual because they're a good team at the Suns' type of game. There aren't many other teams in the NBA that can do that -- probably none. I think all 3 of these teams teams would consistently make the conference finals if not the finals if they were in the east. (The Kings, not anymore, but 2 or 3 years ago.) The western conference has been much, much more challenging in the past five or six years, and at their best they've consistently gotten more wins than the #2 teams in the east (and occasionally the #1) while facing much tougher opposition. ???? This eastern conference had 3 (if you include the Pacers with Artest), maybe 4 teams (Bulls borderline) that could have made the playoffs in the western conference. The Bulls lost to the Suns by an average of 19 points/game this season. Guy
