Not really. Comparing death tolls is the silliest fucking thing I can think of. "Oh yeah, you think that's bad?! What about all the death in Darfur? Huh? How about THAT big boy?!" It's almost as if Clem is saying the deaths in Va. are inconsequential in comparison.

They could dismiss DEA at once, a huge saving for your wallet. No can do, my friend. They'll still have to enforce laws against other drugs, AND make sure that the drugs aren't being grown illegally cheating the govenrment out of its tax dollars. I do like the concept though. Let's make guns illegal and strengthen the black market for them, AND let's give any potential criminal the ability to walk down to the corner store and get cranked up on coke. What a wonderful world it would be.

I think you'd have to dig deeper into the symptoms. And guns really aren't part of that, IMO. They may be a means to an end, but if you're hell bent on that patricular end, banning guns will not likely provide much of an obstacle. Again, it's just my opinion.

No, the reality camp. If there is a market for something, people will manufacture. If not here, offshore. But guns will still exist, and they will still be obtained. Only in this scenario mostly by the people you really don't want having them.

So lay down the law with them. If they don't like it, they can piss off. It's simply rude for them to continue to make your schedule theirs.

So what would your suggestion be? How about outlaw guns? Why do people need to buy guns? So making them illegal will make them magically disappear? Can you name something illegal that hasn't thrived underground or on the blackmarket? They outlawed pot. How did that work out? Also, how do you propose getting all the guns off the streets to begin with?

Agreed. But, to put a cleaner point on my argument, I have never, and will never, own a gun. I don't believe in them. I have no political agenda when it comes to this. I was simply trying to equalize some of the points made earlier in this thread. If I have offended, I apologize.

So my argument isn't flawed at all. It may not have been as easy, but I think it's pretty obvious when somebody has reached this mental state there are few obstacles. Would you not agree?

You gotta be kiddin' me Scott. That's some jive ass shit right there. No, what's jive shit is you spouting on about gun control laws not taking into account the average gun owner is responsible about their ownership/hobby/etc., while most of the guns used in criminl activities are illegally obtained. You're also completely ignoring that making something illegal almost never makes it go away. The same would happen with guns. If somebody wants one bad enough, they'll get it. Violent personalities were around long before guns were invented, and will be around long after we're gone. If you can't state anything more tangible than "smells like bullshit" or tell me that my comments are "jive ass" your rebuttals really won't hold much water. You make it seem as though having tighter gun control would prevent things like this from happening. Now that's what I call jive ass. And naive as hell to boot.

I didn't realizing killing came about with the advent of the gun. Bottom line is this, gents. You can make guns illegal. Just like we did with drugs. Boy, that worked out swimmingly, didn't it? Besides, how many guns that are used in criminal acts do you actually think were legally obtained?
